So whats your preferred antelope set up?
I won this tag the other night and only have 3 weeks to get everything ready. Got a couple choices but was curious what everyone likes.20210824_111731.jpgimagejpeg_0(1).jpg

For me it would be my 25-06 shooting a Barnes 100 grain TTSX at 3200 fps.

That is what I used for my coues deer at 420 yards and he just dropped. I keep thinking that I need to load it up a little faster to 3300 fps but I then ask myself why when it does such a good job at 3200.

I agree on Jim for the caliber....25-06. I have been shooting it since is was a wildcat back in the 50"s , called .25 Neider back then. I have a Ruger M77 (1970's vintage, tang safety) topped with a Leupold VXlll 4x14 with ballistic turrets to match my loads. I shoot 117 Sierra boat tails. I have probably killed over 100 deer and antelope with it. Still shoots sub moa groups at 3100 .

Is there a factory loading close to that one?
I picked up a box of Hornady Whitail 115 grain loads when I first got my 25-06 and their advertised velocity is 3100 fps.

They shot extremely well out of mine but I knew that I wanted to drop down in bullet weight and shoot the Barnes 100 grain TTSX out of a reload.

My go-to cartridges are 7mm-08 and .280 Rem. Have killed them beyond 600 yds with both. Pronghorns are not hard to kill. They can be difficult to judge their distance... so a good R.F. is a necessity IMO.

Most any centerfire will do quite well, I personally recommend.24 cal. and up, that shoots pretty flat and that you are comfortable with. There is nothing special about an Antelope cartridge, use whatever your preferred hunting cartridge/rifle that you are most proficient with. My wife and I hunt Antelope whenever we draw tags......and use the cartridges that we use for all of our other hunting. Since the early ‘90’s we’ve taken many “speed goats” while using our “only” big game hunting rifles.....the wife uses her .338 WM, and I use my .375AI! Overkill doesn’t exist.....only underkill! ;) memtb

Antelope are not tough animals so the list of preferred cartridges is long.
I have personally used a 7RM, .270 and I've been with my brother when he used a 6mm and a 30-06. All worked just fine.
No super long range shots. Furthest for either of us was just over 400 yards one time the rest were much closer

Found a pic of a buck from NV area 251.
