Got 4 points to draw west Blues spring bear tag so that's the start.

Got 15 points for antelope and should be about 75% to draw Hart Mt bow tag.

Other than those two will hunt general archery deer and elk both west side around my house and maybe get east for a week for elk.

Putting in for other tags but not expecting to draw much else.

UH, thanks. How many points do you have? I agree, taking the time to invest the scouting and time in a good tag pays off. Being able to scout, find what you are looking for, patterning him and keeping tabs on him until opening morning then being able to harvest him is what hunting is all about. I spent 15 days finding and following this buck and it paid off.
The funny thing was I knew he was a 'booner' but I had a hard time judging him because his head was so damn big. The taxidermist refered to him as a 'mule head' and said he had the biggest head of any antelope he had ever seen. He had to order a special form and modify it. He always ran with a bunch of does and I never saw another buck around him until one day a 13" buck ran in and tried to impress his girls and my buck ran him off. It'd nice being able to compare a 13" buck to a heavy 17" buck.
I'm only at 10 points, I still have a 5 year wait ahead of me, but there is always the chance someone in the clan will hit on a random tag.

The Deer, well I finally got some pictures scanned, hopefully I can get them attached this time. The bucks offical green score was 89 4/8 and after the drying period he ended up 88 even. They do shrink a bunch!
The last two pictures were for the EHJ article. Guy had me take more because my field photos were sub-par. View attachment 7663View attachment 7662View attachment 7661
Halfslam that is a stud buck of a lifetime I hope to get into the 80 inch area one of these days. Congrats and thank you for sharing!

My plans have change a little since this thread started. I will be traveling to Wyoming for elk, so I don't plan on hunting elk in Oregon for the first time on over 25 years. I'm still searching for a resident with 7 or more deer points to let me apply with them for the Metolius muzzy hunt, I will likely hunt general west side for deer since the search isn't going so well. I'm on the fence about raffle tags, I may buy a couple for deer at the last minute.

What's everyone else thinking?

Just did the point saver for deer and elk.
Gen Archery for both right now.
I just can't take the chance of drawing Oregon with elk tags for Wyoming and Colorado (2nd choice 100%)

If Sheep/Goat/Lope lottery happened I'd find the time:cool:

Well struck out on WY, AZ & NM elk so I went ahead and applied for the Mt. Emily archery elk with 16 pts. I don't even know if I have a chance for it. HF claims there's only one NR tag and it goes to outfitters this year. But 5% of 56 = 2 tags so I think they are wrong. I called ODWR and they didn't even know. Go figure. Also put in for Juniper mzl deer with 16 but not likely to draw that. I do LOVE that New Mexico pushed all their draws up so I knew the results prior to OR deadline! Good luck to all.
