Headed for California in the morning. Wish all the stupid people down there luck with me driving through the bay area and if you see an older maroon Peterbilt pouring out black smoke with a Harley on the trailer get out of the way while you still can;) Im only looking foreward to about 80 miles of this trip and they are the last 80 on my bike all the way at the other end

I really hope the temps start dropping soon.
I sat in my stand tonight with the thermometer reading 88 degrees. Not a hint of wind and I was pouring sweat - still saw some deer. Cracks me up how people spend hundreds of dollars on scent block clothing and I sit above a puddle of sweat and watch deer 15 yards away for most of an hour.

I'm not saying I would set up a stand downwind of my quarry and I've had critters bolt as soon as the wind shifted to the back of my neck, but there's something about being 20-25 feet above the ground that makes a big difference.

Ain't that the truth. Playing the wind is not only cheaper but is also the best way to fool an animals nose.

This is the first time I have replied with a quote so I don't know if it will work right. I think people way underestimate an animals nose, but if you can get 25 feet up a tree you can get by with more with your wind and movement, just my opinion.

I find 1 good thing about Cali every time I go there........LEAVING IT!!!!! lol. Really it was a good trip other then 40 miles into a 180 mile ride on my bike I realized I messed up mounting the new oil tank and the chain wore a hole in it but some J B weld and washers in the True Value Hardware parking lot got me back on the road:)

Put some lead through my model 1894 Winchester 30-30 today! Shot a nice groups at 100 and 150 yards. Not bad for a 116 year old gun! I am going to take it antelope hunting this year because I feel like doing something different!

It was! This gun was one of of my " Im getting sent to Iraq and Im buying some guns before I go" purchases. lol I think I shot it more today then I have since I have had it. It will be even greater when Im posting pics of the antelope I kill with in in a couple weeks:) I wanted to shoot it out to 200 but it was a little windy and I was really confident in the gun so thought I should quit while I was ahead. Hopefully I get time to shoot it some more before I leave for my hunt.
