Got 3 of my Iver Johnson pistols fixed today! 1 the latch screw broke off when I put it back in but luckily the drill caught it when I was drilling it out and unscrewed it. Then I realized someone had built up the latch posts with weld and had to do alot of filing to get it to latch with the new screw. Another had the trigger guard bent and had to straighten it and file it down some to get the trigger to move freely. last one a ketch for the double action was rounded off and I was able to file it back square and got it to work!

Had a small whitetail buck sprint in front of the truck last night. He didn't make it. Couple grand in damage. We sure lose a lot of deer in Nebraska to vehicles. Seems I can see a fresh kill every 5 to 10 miles of highway every few weeks and it goes on all year. Would be interesting to know how many are lost this way. I have had several bucks over the years I was hunting that got it this way before the next season.

I have had a couple white tails flat out commit suicide here. 1 ran out in front of my Powerstroke, I have a big bumper and wouldnt have hurt anything excpt he was a small buck and got 1 horn caught in the grill and took out 1/2 the grill and 1 headlight. Another doe ran out in front of my Peterbilt, didnt hurt the truck but sure did a number on that deer. Both times I was going 60+ and didnt even have time to get my foot off the throttle.

Man I love being in the outdoors hunting and spending time with my family in the woods. I can't wait to share these experiences with my son. Due date 3/13/14, 3 days before my birthday

"Hi. Im new to the form. I live east of the Mississippi river and have been hunting whitetails here for a few years and my 3 buddies and I decided yesterday we want to go mule deer hunting out west! We are looking for an area with lots of public land, lots of deer and not many other hunters that we can draw a rifle tag in with 0 points since we just started planning this hunt yesterday and we REALLY want to hunt this fall! Its to far away to go scout before the season and we will only have 5 days to hunt so it needs to be pretty easy country since we wont have time to pack in very far or pack game out. Also we dont have any camping gear so it needs to be fairly close to a decent sized town we can get a motel in. We are on a budget and cant afford to pay an outfitter of a tresspass fee to hunt private land so it has to be on public land, and we will be doing this hunt all on our own. Ideally we would like to all tag out by the 3rd day so we can do some sight seeing before our long drive back east. We are not trophy hunters and are not looking for monster bucks but we would all like to kill 160+ bucks on our first hunt out west! Ideally we would like it to be an area we could draw 2nd choice in a state we could draw tags 2nd choice and still get a point so we can save up some points and hunt a unit with 200+'' bucks behind every bush! What state/area/unit would be the best to apply in?"

M and M,

Come on up here and I'll fly you and your buddies out and drop you off. No need to bring more than a 243., the bears there are generally pretty friendly!

One Way Air Service, that's me. There must be a Motel 6 around there somewhere. Look for the lights, they'll leave them on for ya!

I think there is a motel 6 up there on the other side of the mountain behind the big snow hill after you pass the fifth downed tree by the beaver damn.

I think Alaska is to far for us. We cant afford plane tickets and driving would take to long. We really want to hunt Colorado, Wyoming, or New Mexico because we know that is where all the big bucks are at and Arizona is to far and if we drove that far we would only have 4 days to hunt and sight see and we really want 5 days to kill some 160 bucks and have a day or 2 of free time before we head back east.
