I have a tag in my pocket that takes 7 years to draw. It is day 3 of a 7 day season and I am having to work. I'm not happy right now!

Had some words with a pheasant hunter yesterday. I dont take to well to someone walking 100 feet from me with a shotgun pointed at me. Seriously how do you miss a big yellow road grader working 100' from you? His defense of showing me it was unloaded got him nowhere, I told him I didnt give a BEEP if it was unloaded and he had better watch where he was pointing it!! Then the idiot went and told my boss who knows nothing about shotguns that #4 shot wouldnt hurt anyone at that distance. I was mad before but I was really mad after that! I was hoping they would be there today, I was going to tell him to give me his shotgun and walk out 100' so we could test his theory on him but they werent there.

I agree, that dude at least needs to refresh on some gun safety. Ask Dick Cheney about that kindof stuff.

Anyway, on a sidenote, I am spoiled rotten and I love it. Homemade bread and venison roast waiting for me when I got home.

He got a very short and to the point course on being aware of where his gun was pointing at all times! Barrel was pointed to the ground all the way back to his suv after it! The guy was so oblivious he actually asked me when he was pointing it at me..... I cant believe he would tell anyone 4 shot wouldnt hurt anyone at that distance and I hope he is not stupid enough to actually believe it. He should have apologized to the land owner for irresponsibaly handling his firearm on his proprety instead of trying to shovel him a bunch of bull that was irrevelant to the situation. My boss was glad I let him have it and I explained to him what a shotgun could do if it hit you at that range. 4 shot is .13'' diameter, at 120' its moving at about 750-800 fps, there are about 150 in a 1 1/8 oz load, and the maximum range of it is just under 300 yards.

I found out that 170ish is to far for me to be shooting deer with my smoke pole. The hansome 5X5 170 ish buck just walked away.
