thank you sir, more or less a depravation hunt, lots of alfalfa fields around the desert and they get destroyed by the elk, seems to be a lot more elk in there this year than usual. they are general over the counter tags.

Wow, I never knew any state had so much elk hunting in Aug. Very cool ... actually, I guess it's probably quite warm then :) I may have to research hunting in Idaho to get some Cow meat for my freezer!!

the heat is the big prob with it, i bet alot of meat gets ruined by people taking their time to cut it up or take it in. i had 100 pounds of ice just for one hind Q one front Q and one back strap of a calf cow and i barely had time to get it all cut and wrapped before ice was gone

That's what I figured. It's good that you'll be hunting close to home so you can get the meat back to a freezer quickly. Guess you wouldn't want to backpack a few miles from the truck at that time of year!! You'd never get the meat out before it got ruined.

Holy smokes, 3:30? you seem to be up late, too. I know you are an hour behind, but it still seems like 10:00 and you are posting. I occasionally have to be up that early, but then I need a nap about 1:00 pm. you are way tougher than me
