Few FL base layers, MTN LITE Rifle Cover (Solo Hunter), my first bow (VXR 28). I'm not hunting with it this year. Finally got my pull where I like it and now I'm getting my pins set. So far so good.
Added a used vortex razor spotter back in December January time from one of our great forum guys.
Added bunch new hunting close since I lost a ton of weight. Got a few sitka base layers and mid layering stuff mostly shirts and hoodies. Kryptek mid layer hoodie. Element out doors jacket. Kuiu jacket. And 2 pairs of Insulated pants one from cabelas and other sportsmans warehouse that they had on clearance over the summer. Most things I picked up on discount from camofire or on Facebook garage sale group for hunting clothes. Trying out all this new clothes and what some of these high end stuff is like will be different from my old gear. Cant wait.
Only thing I dont have is a new coat. So any advice on a good tree stand or blind insulated coat would be awesome

I have spent a whopping $125 on new gear this year - some cheap hoodies and a new pair of rain/wind proof camo pants on clearance. I just don't need anything really so saving my money for the actual hunt expenses.

I bought some land this year, so I expanded my trail cam collection and picked up a few used tree stands to place throughout.
The only thing I've really had to buy for my trips west this year was a 6 pack of polyester/spandex boxer shorts from Walmart. Gotta keep that chafing away!

A new Angle compensating range finder and a Inreach Explorer to keep the wife happy. The Inreach is well worth the money!

The full size. Worked flawlessly while I was in the montana backcountry for two in a half weeks. I only found one spot where I couldn't get a satellite conformation and it was in a steep, high,, narrow drainage. Other than that once it worked great. It also works 100% on the boat off the coast.

New for me this year:
1. Pair of Kenetrek Mountain Xtreme boots... very happy with how the performed during my Colorado elk hunt.
2. Mystery Ranch Pop Up 38... good pack. Too bad I didn't get to test its meat hauling capabilities.

Well, my brother in law just picked up some new hardware.
He went into the hospital to get one procedure taken care of and came out with a pacemaker.
I asked him if it could tune in the world series but he said that he would have to check with the Dr. to see if it could.
This is a man that I have hiked more miles with than I care to even think about, packed out more deer, elk, antelope, and one bison. But he was told to leave the packing on the bison alone since we had enough help. On his LE elk hunt in the Utah Book Cliffs back in 2002 he had just came out of the hospital less than 4 months later after having a triple bypass done. Since he had the tag he had to hike up to the elk go make sure that it was dead, then we just told him to get his behind down to the 4 wheeler. 5 hours later 3 of us that were with him had the elk down to the bike.
You just can't keep a good man down, but this may slow him down a lot.

He is still wanting me to show up to go hunting here in October. He turned in his tag but if we go he'll be the copilot as I just road hunt and perhaps pick up a few grouse.

So I lied (but not on purpose). Apparently I have one more piece of new gear this year.
Last year on an elk hunt I found a shed nobody had collected yet from a spike bull, partial head plate still attached. I wanted to do something fun with it but, didn't have any ideas.
My wife did.
We have property rented back on the East coast (couldn't sell it in the downturn), and our tenant there is both a talented photographer and a knife/pipe maker, Brian Griska. My wife snuck that antler piece out to him and had the above made. I am OVER the MOON. D2 tool steel for the knife (no dulling it on a bone) and spring steel for the smaller one (more flexible and forgiving). Can't wait to put them in use.
