Picked up our new puppy Saturday....she is a pistol! 9 weeks old and a ball of fire. Seems to be pretty smart, starting to respond to her name already. Knows what no means (doesn't mean she obeys all the time tho!) and is getting a great start on house training after just 3 days. First night was pretty chaotic, as she fussed a lot, guess she missed he littermates.

I'll get some pictures as soon as I have some time to take them, getting ready for a bunch of company tomorrow. Big regional cowboy action shoot this weekend and several couples will be here from California for the shoot. Over 100 shooters for a 3 day shoot. After the shoot, we are going to take our RV's and boats to Vallecito Lake by Durango for a week of fishing and a little hiking too. New dog gets boarded at vet while we are gone.

Congrats CC! I will be looking for a pup myself in the next year. I still have 1 dog but the other went to herd the great white Buffalo 2 nights ago.

Retirement sounds awesome the way you do it CC. Only 32 years to go.
Thanks, but a little advice from an old goat who has been there. Enjoy everyday like it was your last as retirement will be here before you know it. I've been retired 14 years and it seems like yesterday I was working. Those 32 years will fly by and one day you'll ask yourself where did the time go. I love retirement and intend on enjoying a lot more years of it!

Sorry to hear that Musket. I treat my dogs like a member of the family so when you lose one it is very hard. Good luck on your search for a new pup.

These have been my dogs over the last 15 years or so. The only 1 left is the smaller blacker one and she is 11. Found someone in Wyoming with dogs that might interest me if they have a litter in the right time frame. No hurry, Ill wait for the right one to come along. My animals usually find me!

Labs a wonderful hunting companions and really great family dogs too. Jenny is 5 mos old now and really doing great. I work her in the water every day, along with some other basic training for obedience, etc. I will be starting basic field work, hand signals and scent training soon. Everyone who has posted really have some great pictures of the dogs.Jenny 4 and one half months.jpg

Hey CC, Congrats on your Lab. Three years ago after my longtime buddy passed away (15 year old beagle) I got a Yellow Lab from "Forever Labs" just south of Calhan. Named him Rocky. I attached a pic of him and his brother at a couple of weeks old and what he looks like now with his new brother, a Golden. They are both great dogs.
