I'm looking at going to to Nebraska to meet my dad and uncle for a hunt (first time hunting with them in about 30 years, so I'm looking forward to it).

They're going to a place called Halsey, anybody here from the area or been there? They've been there a couple of times but I like digging up whatever I can on a place before I go.

Thx.

Deer - Mulies and/or whitetail. My dad said both are out there, I'm not particular. Thx.

The public land on the forest has pretty high pressure during the 9 day rifle season. As a rule of thumb, the whitetails hang within a mile or two of the river and the mule deer are generally off the river a ways. That said, either species can turn up about anywhere. If you have private access, you will likely have a good hunt as deer numbers are doing better in that area.

Copy all, thank you much. This is my first trip out that way, so I'm looking forward to it.

Lots of pressure during rifle and muzzy. I haven't hunted it in a few years but 4 years ago it was a zoo during muzzy. Regardless it is a beautiful place and you should have great memories. Lots of coyotes, grouse, and even a few Bobcats walking around.

Best advice I can give you is to take a Xanex before rifle hunting public ground in Nebraska....

Your going to need it.

I dont take pills, never have, but I would if I was every going to hunt public ground in that state again during the rifle season. lol
