It's a shame but the story on this guy is that the deer was poached on an Indian Reservation. The guy in the pic is the warden. Rumor is it that it would be over 210".

Wow... thats a bad deal there. I subscribed to the KS game wardens page in facebook... shouldn't have ever done that. There are like 5 posts a day of poached deer where the wardens are looking for tips. Makes me sick. Most of the time they don't take any meat or anything. Just shoot and leave everything there.

That's terrible. Steals from all the honest people. Saw a deer in the ditch today without a head. Whitetail buck that someone cut the head off. I assume it was hit by a car but maybe not.

Just read an interesting article about poachers on guys blog.

40% of the people who passed a dummy buck took a shot at it a day after the season or whatever...I was suprised the numbers were not higher...

Your average Joe hunter isnt very law abiding... I have been saying this for years. And its sad but its true.

Greed. Plain and simple...

That's a shame.

It's one of the biggest problems with hunting.
The chances of getting caught are pretty slim, so you basically police yourself. Unfortunately, the temptation is just too great for many. The "right vs wrong" part of the brain gets overshadowed by the thought of getting away with the "trophy."

Maybe my sense of guilt is just too great. I just could never do something(even slightly) illegal to take any animal because it's all I would think about afterwards. I would never be able to look at a trophy on my wall without feeling that overwhelming guilt of how it was obtained. How anyone could look at an illegally taken trophy and feel good about it is beyond my comprehension skills.

I sure hope this is not the case. These poachers make all of us hunters look bad in the eyes of the non-hunting public.

That's funny, when I was hunting in the badlands a couple weeks ago I talked with a game warden and he showed me this pic because he was there. If I remember right he said it was poached by rezzers. He also showed me two whitetails both probably 180-200" shot back to back by a father and son in the Killdeer mountains, but taken legally.

I live about an hour east of where that buck was shot. I hate hearing about this stuff. I hope they find who did it. From what I heard it could have been the new state record.
