Yesterday (day before Christmas) was one of my most memorable days of hunting EVER. My thirteen year old daughter got her first animal, a huge Roosevelt cow elk here in SW Oregon. She practiced this summer and fall and made a perfect 190 yard shot with a .243, in fact it was the same rifle I shot my first big game animal with back in 1974 (40 years ago). My nephew was along and we made short work of it. It was truly a blessing from the Lord and so awesome to be with her to share that moment with her. She was so excited and was smiling from ear to ear. This morning we had elk tenderloin steaks, gravy and pancakes for Christmas breakfast.

Congratulations, a day she will never forget. I remember when I took my son (he was 12) to Wyoming and he got his first big game animal. Memories like this will last a lifetime!

What a great day to be a Dad! I love that she used your rifle from 40 years ago as well. My oldest daughter will turn 11 this February so we will be taking Hunters safety this summer and then doing some rabbit and small game hunting this fall. She can't hunt a big game animal in Wyoming until she is 12. She has been on several hunts with me as a spectator but now it is time to switch roles. She is starting to get more and more excited about it as am I. Keep up the great work and I may you have many more outings like this one with her!
