The MRS is still in the print publications. Print version differs from digital slightly from what I've seen so far but not by much.
You don't need a phone or anything special to view the digital versions. The digital version website is essentially a "reader". IF you want it saved to your pc for viewing later, you simply "print" select pages or the whole document. The "print" function will download the publication and open it in Adobe Reader (if that's your browser default), then bring up the print dialog for your default printer. You can then cancel the print function and save the document to your pc as a .pdf.

I like the paper mag, I dont want to change to digital. When I used to look at an MRS online before the mag came in the mail sometimes if it came out close to a draw deadline (I guess I cant now) I print it off and then read it. I wait for it in the mail if I can, I dont like reading on the computer and I wouldnt read alot of the mag if I only had a digital. As I am understanding this I would now have to pay for digital and paper to see past MRS's online.

Yeah I agree, I liked it the way it was. I get both copies of the magazine, but I was going to renew only the EHJ because I don't bowhunt. Now I can't see but half of the MRS if I do that. How much is the digital version??? More money I'm guessing.

I guess (no, I know!) I'm old fashioned, can't help it. Being 73 kinda leads me down that path. I don't do social media and I like my magazines. A couple of other groups I belong to have quit printing their monthly communications with their members, you get it on line. Don't care much for it. I hate being stuck behind the computer as much as I am now!

To be honest, if Eastman's didn't publish the MRS section in the magazine, I'm not sure I would even subscribe. Sure great photos and stories, but there are lots of other magazines that do the same thing for less money. Sorry guys!

I think the recurring theme is that in the past there has been a certain way to get the MRS info in the past and that is changing. CHANGE does not always sit well with customers. What often happens is companies see "new" and "better" ways to do things but don't always consider that their customers may use their product in a variety of ways. For example, as I mentioned, the way I use the MRS is download it, organize it in an "MRS" file by date code, so it's handy wherever I use my laptop to do research. I doubt the way I do it is the "norm" but that is what I like and has worked well for me. A few weeks ago, when I went on to get the WY elk MRS I found things are now different (first let down) and I didn't have access to the MRS. To have that same service now, I believe I need to pay more (buy both EHJ and EBJ) (second let down), convert my subscription to digital, figure out how to download the MRS, and if it is attached to the rest of the magazine, strip the MRS out of the mag so I have just the MRS pages. I really don't want to mess with screen captures, since I then have to figure out how to merge all the various pages to create a single document to open. It just feels like a lot of hassle to get back to the way I originally used the MRS. Just my thoughts.

The ONLY reason I pay for an Eastman's subscription is to see what the MRS is recommending. I rarely read the articles. I have had access to all of the MRS with just a subscription to EHJ.
My thought exactly!

The bad thing is that my magazine comes encased in a plastic sleeve with all my member info on the mailing label. When I open it, The plastic get trashed....no member number!

It's all about the $$$... don't get me wrong, I'm sure the Eastmans crew are great guy's but they are in it to make a living, not because they WANT to help you find great hunts! They will do whatever it takes to make more members and find cheaper way's to do business to make more money. That's just the way it is. I personally wish they would stop the two different subscriptions and just make it one. Subscribing to both annoys me. If it goes to digital only, I'll be the first to stop my subscription.

This is what I do, and I'm a little bummed that I'm no longer able to. For me, it was extremely easy to go back several years through old MRS info, and see changes in units..

I have said it before and I will say it again: PRINT IS NOT GOING AWAY! YOU WILL STILL GET THE MRS IN YOUR MAILBOX JUST LIKE NORMAL!

The digital subscription is cheaper than the print version and has more features. Both digital journals for $29.99 is a really good deal. We also offered a $10.00 upgrade which allowed customers to add the journal they were missing for half the cost of adding the print side.

The issue with the MRS is that we always have more states to cover than we have issues available to cover all of the information in time for print deadlines. So that means we have to put MRS information in EHJ and EBJ to cover it all before all of the application deadlines.

Here is where the advantage of digital comes in. There are things that just can't be covered in print due to printing constraints and because of that there is always information left on the table that we wish we could put into the magazine. Digital editions have allowed us to add those features at the lowest cost to you all as subscribers and offer the things in the MRS that we have wanted for years, well before I was ever working here.

You can do this in the digital editions. You can also use the search function to find things about the specific units you are looking for.

For instance, say you want to find why a unit went from a blue chip to a green chip, search the unit number and state and EVERY piece from the MRS that we have put into the digital edition will show up in the feed.

I'm just glad I don't plan on hunting other states besides Wyoming so I just skim over the MRS section every month. Reading the last post UH put up made my head swim and I have no idea about most of what he mentioned he'd have to do even if it will be possible. If you have to pay more to get stuff that in the past has been in the magazines, then I think it's a big negative and I would bet a lot of people like CHC will say byebye! What, if anything, are we going to miss in the printed magazines that will now only be in the digital version?

ScottR---I see a couple mistakes in the new EHJ Vol 27 Issue 146 I got last week. The first is on the cover and on the second page at the top where both show December.January 2014. I think whoever missed that needs to know that tomorrow is 2015. The other is a statement by Guy back in the MRS regarding elk unit 113 where he says: The state used to give out bull tags every three years here but it looks like they may have reduced that frequency to every other year as of recently." Doing what they did and what he stated is certainly not reducing the frequency, but rather increasing it. Those are just a couple small things and I can understand as busy as Guy is that he could make that one, but I guess it's hard to believe that a proof reader wouldn't catch the 2014 mistake in two different spots!

Long time subscriber here. So I was looking at the WY MRS in the print version of the magazine and wanted to look at the MRS on-line version to enlarge the print. When I went on-line and logged in, I was unable to access it and saw the website note that it had been discontinued, so I went to this forum and found this thread. I renewed my subscription before Christmas and added the $20 digital version, but I don't have access. I am thinking that the digital version won't start until my current print issue expires but I am not sure what is going on. Maybe I have to do the 3 month trial first? Hoping ScottR can provide some insight. Thanks, Horniac

Send me your email via PM and I will get you taken care of. Did you get an email telling you that your Digital Edition was ready on Friday? Do me a favor and check your junk mail too.

Scott PM sent with my e-mail. I just checked my e-mails as requested and I missed the e-mail on Friday. Followed the link and installed the app on my I-pad and was able to download the digital version.

Thanks and Happy New Year!

UH---You have to log into the MRS like always and it tells you it's no longer available that way. There you'll see the 90 day free trial offer to click on and then you end up having to go into the store to order it. It finally allowed me to get through after a dozen tries and then when I hit submit it says I'll have an email authorization to look for to get it up and running. I'm heading there now to see if it's there and what happens next.

I got the free trial offer a couple days ago- piece of cake! It's great that I now have access to all back issues up to two years back. I'll be busy reading for at least the next couple of months now.
