I just signed up for the EHJ and I have not received my first hard copy of an issue so I don't know my member #. Is there a way to get my member number so I can access the MRS section before receiving my first issue in the mail? Thanks.

Cross your heart and hope to die if we don't Scott, LOL!!! I just tried to get into it and I see it's no longer accessible like WB stated. I guess I'll try the 3 month free digital subscription to both mags that I already get and then decide what to do. I tried that with the NRA mag and found that I never looked at it, so even if I get these on the computer I'll probably still stay with the printed version as well.

Ok got it. I was hoping to access the past year's MRS data and I was able to find some of it in the back issues I had access to. Is the Colorado MRS info for 2014 only in the EBJ issue listed in the MRS preview? I was hoping to get access to that as well without having to pay for both EHJ & EBJ subscriptions. Or is there a spot where you can go access all of the MRS data without having to go to back issues? Thanks.

With the free trial you should get access to both journals. Download the app for your phone or tablet and you should get what you are looking for.

So, is there any way to save the MRS sections now as they come out? I liked that feature so I had quick access to them.

Also, are we covered if we have already subscribed to the digital edition of the magazine, or is this going to be an additional item?

When you have the digital subscription, they are there forever.

I too am trying to get up to speed on the MRS access too. The ONLY reason I pay for an Eastman's subscription is to see what the MRS is recommending. I rarely read the articles. I have kept all issues of the MRS on my laptop in a format that helped me with my research. I get the paper copy of the EHJ only. I preferred downloading the digital copy since I could zoom in an read the text better (it's pretty tiny in the print version, and sometimes smeared if the printing is off).

Can I convert my current subscription to a digital copy?

I have had access to all of the MRS with just a subscription to EHJ. Do I now have to buy both EHJ and EBJ to get all of the new MRS write-ups?

I preferred being able to download a PDF copy of the MRS. There are lots of time I am on my laptop doing research in places I don't have WiFi access....for example on a plane or in the field, etc.

I have all the mrs back into 2008. I can stick it on google. You can download the digital copy and print to PDF although for me that works poorly so far.

I just noticed the print button on the digital version. You can select the page range and print to file (pdf) to save them as a work around.

Ok, read my responsed below, in Italics to each of your questions.

When you get the digital subscription the zoom feature will read much better as that is what the desktop feature is designed for. If you get the app for your tablet or phone you will lose a little of the clarity, but it is still readable. In the text version on the app you can zoom as wel..

Can I convert my current subscription to a digital copy?

Yes, call the office and our CS team will get that taken care of for you.

Yes, you will need access to both. However, a digital subscription is quite a bit cheaper than print.

You can download an entire journal, as many as you want onto your smart devices. According to what I read just a minute ago on this thread, you can save the PDF's. Or you can open the page and screen shot what you want to accomplish the same thing.

If you have a digital subscription to either EHJ or EBJ, do you get the full MRS, or do you need to have a digital subscription to both, as is the case with the standard magazine subscriptions?

Also, how is the MRS going to be broken up between the two magazines? What info will be in each magazine? I read the MRS description in my latest issue of EHJ, but the article didn't go into detail about what info is going to be in EHJ and what info will be in EBJ. The article just stated that if you want the complete MRS, you have to get both subscriptions.

Thanks

The download is the problem. To print the publication to a PDF, it has to be downloaded to your pc as part of the process. During that process, the server hangs most of the time requiring multiple attempts. I have yet to determine on which end the hand is occurring.

I will mirror Scotts comment above, for the few dollars the digital version costs, it's well worth it and if you print the mags to PDF and save to your PC, you'll have them on hand for a long time.

Just make sure you backup your pc's....
(terabyte usb drives at costco for like $100)

When I saved it the print dialog box coughed and sputtered for a few seconds, but it worked fine in the end.

Sensory overload kicked me squarely in the groin after the first paragraph. Don't stop the print version, or dinosaurs like me will have to go back to living in a cave.

That was exactly my thought, as once these guys got going back and forth I was lost. I only have a flip open phone and don't intend to ever go with all this newfangled stuff. If it's not out in print I guess they will have lost me as a customer!

Im not happy about this. Why should I have to pay for a digital subscription I dont want to look at past MRS's online? Why is it not included with the printed magazine anymore? How much does it cost after the 3 month free trial runs out? I cant seem to find a price to add it to my current subscription. I dont have a smart phone or tablet and dont want either. I just want to look at past MRS's from time to time when I cant find my paper copy.
