Mountain Lion Encounter

Had a very close call with a Mountain Lion while archery mule deer hunting a few days ago. I had just left my bow behind for reasons I explain in my blog post. Never go without a side arm. Definitely one of the scariest 3 minutes of my life.

Read my story and check out the pictures of the site at my blog here: Mountain Lion Encounter

Do any of you have any good Mountain Lion Encounter stories where it was more then just a sighting?

I always carry my side arm. I've encountered a couple mountain lions while I was shed hunting by myself.. Then just yesterday while elk hunting I got charged my a longhorn. I was very happy to have my .41 then!

Great story.

It would be nice to carry. In the great state of CA it is illegal to carry a weapon during archery season.

Personally I'd rather carry mine anyway and deal with possibility of explaining to law enforcement why I was carrying illegally than explaining at the Pearly Gates why I should be let in ;)

We've got at least three and maybe four cougar that frequent our place. They have destroyed the deer population. Momma had two kittens last fall. I have got to learn how to call cougar.

I carry mine no matter what state I am hunting. I will deal with a ticket if I ever get caught. I believe in the right to bear arms whether I am bow hunting or not! That joke of a law is another example of the game and fish departments overstepping their boundaries.
