That's the saddest part about dogs. They have such a short life compared to humans. Think if we could get a dog as a kid, and have it with us for our whole life.
Pretty sad day in my household today. Had to take my 14 year old Lab Molly to the vet and have her put down. To much pain in all her joints and heart giving out. She was the greatest dog I've ever had (and I've had a few!) and a wonderful hunter and companion. Wife and I had to do the hardest thing for a pet owner. Having her cremated and will spread her ashes on our pond where she spent so much time chasing the ducks, geese and fish.

I'll post a couple of pictures later today.

CC- I'm sorry for the loss of your dog. I feared the pain of losing one so bad, I didn't get my first until last year. Already, in a year and a half, the good times and great memories she's given us will far outweigh the pain that will eventually come.

RIP Molly.

Glad to see I was not the only one who forgot their man card at home when the family dog was chosen.

My condolences CC. I had to put my first lab down a couple years ago due to cancer. Hardest thing I have ever had to do. Still brings tears to my eyes just thinking about him.

Here is Duke, happy to see me home from work so he isn't outside anymore.

Here he is proudly displaying his best day, marking 5 birds at once with 2 hunters then getting the sixth 20 minutes later

And here he is scouting with me earlier this year.

This is Molly, my Lab that I had to put down yesterday. Old age finally got her, she was 14. Had her since she was a pup and trained her myself. She also naturally pointed when we hunt upland game. She was the most intelligent dog I ever had.

I'll have to post a pic of our Yellow Lab, he's 1 1/2 year old now and starting to come around. He should have been owned by a guy who bird hunts, I don't, I just love labs. I had my sweetest Black female dog pass away a few years ago, so I know how you feel CC, Its' not easy to let go. No other dog will ever replace her, but I still like having a lab around the house and family. Good looking dogs guys, you all make me feel like I should take mine bird huntin'
