A friend spent 25 years as an outfitter. He had a group of clients from the east coast who came every time they could draw. They spent the whole trip drinking, playing cards, and telling lies in the camp. They would venture to town to buy sets of elk sheds to get mounted and take them to the taxidermist. That got them a big elk to show their buddies and another partying road trip to pick up the mounts.

While it is something that would never interest me it was harmless. They didnt load their guns and hunt, they just had a big party at camp. My friend got paid his normal rate and got a chance to rest up during the long hunting season.

I saw the same in New Mexico in the mid 90s as a guide. It wasn't uncommon for an individual or group spend a week at the lodge and never hunt. Those hunts were 6k+ back then...
