Spent 11 Days in the backcountry without seeing even a foot print except that made by my friend that was with me. After making many mistakes managed to make it all come together on day 10 on my first ever high country mule deer and i couldn't be more pumped! We hunted hard with a thirteen mile hike from the trailhead and a ten mile move halfway through the hunt. It was an awesome experience and a trip i hope to make a yearly thing. I absolutly love the mountains and this was just icing on the cake! Managed to stalk within 25yards of this bruiser and put a perfect double lunger on him, with this steepness of the terrain it felt just like a tree stand shot on a white tail back home! Can't wait to get back, but for now i am going to have to be content with sitting in a tree.

Thanks guys, i am really pumped, definetely put a lot of effort into getting him, everything from the physical training to the research to the feet on the ground hiking up and down some crazy mountains with packs loaded for eleven days worth of living and hunting it was worth every bit and a constant adventure.
Haven't put a tape on him yet and have no clue what he will score with the velvet he went straight to the taxidermest, anybody got any estimates?

Great buck and big time congrats. I don't think many can say they head into CO for their first backcountry hunt and score the first time! Awesome job.

Good job! Coming out and scoring on your fist muley hunt is an accomplishment. It took me a few years to get my first good muley with a bow. Congrats to you and your buddy.

Thanks again guys, this was my first time putting in for the draw and i didn;t have any points. I did a ton of research to pick an area and did a lot of phyical training to make sure i could get in and maintain for the entire hunt and i had more fun than i could have imagined! Can't wait for next season!
