Help in Wyoming and Colorado

I have Max points for Deer in Wyoming and 10 points for Deer in Colorado. I am looking to do the Wyoming rifle hunt in 2016 or 2017 and the Colorado rifle hunt whichever year I dont go to Wyoming. My goal in both states is a 180" buck or better. In Wyoming I would want to go guided since I will be by myself but in Colorado non guided since there will be 3 of us. I would appreciate any help any of you could give me on units and guides for Wyoming and units in Colorado.

Region G in Wyoming is your best bet at a 180" buck, but you'll be wasting a lot of PPs you don't need to hunt it. 4PPs will draw it and I'm burning my 6PPs on a guided horseback in 2015 there that starts on 9/21 to get out of the PP rat race!

Check out non-typical outfitters operating in region g Wy. They have taken some really nice deer. But, like Topgun said, you will be 'wasting" a few points.

Robb is booked for 2015 and possibly for 2016 with a waiting list in case anyone cancels! If the OP could find a friend or someone else to go on the hunt down in G and apply as a party even if the other guy has 0 PPs they would draw the tags this year with a 4.5 average! That might be something to think about whether they went guided or maybe do a DIY with rented horses if at least one is knowledgeable on how to take care of the critters. Just something else to think about, as well as it's a pretty sure thing that there will be at least a 10% license fee increase for 2016.

Im not sure any unit in WY is worth max points right now. Hopefully it will get better sometime soon. If you want to go guided you could also look for an outfitter that hunts on private land in a region you could draw 2nd choice and keep your points.

MM---I am sure and IMHO there is no place I would waste max PPs on deer. I was hesitant to use my 6PPs on G when it will only take 4, but we got a good deal with a great outfitter and I'm getting out while the getting is good as they say, LOL!

Not everyone with 4 points drew G last year in the regular draw. The way things are going it might take you all 6 this year TG! lol. Max points is a completely different point class and if a guy is willing to wait it out with max points he could be in for his pick of some really good units eventually.

Well, I have to admit that you're right for the first time this year, LOL! It actually took a fraction of a PP more than 4 and 4 PPs was over 80% draw. You're right and I'm glad I have those 6PPs for what should be an easy draw. Max PPs is certainly different, but the way mulies are going downhill out west I don't believe I'd be holding my breath hoping it gets better because the trend says it won't. Another bad winter in the near future could take them down even faster and I'm just trying to be a realist, but it's really hard not to be a pessimist the way things look right now.

The best units in WY are G and H always have been most likely always will be. If you are holding on to more pts than it takes to draw G you are wasting pts. Even when other units like 102, or the 105 cluster, or 128, are really turning out "good bucks" they still don't compete with G and H. Everyone with max pts wants to hold out until the hunting is good in units that will never be as good as G and H are right now.
