Hello everyone,

I hope I'm posting this introduction in the correct forum. Anyway, I am an avid hunter, fisherman, and trapper here in Michigan. I have been hunting in quite a few different places, but I would have to say that since I started hunting Wyoming in the mid '90's I found that Wyoming is my favorite place to hunt. We love the western states. I hunt with my son, and my wife who loves to hunt Pronghorn.

I see a wealth of combined hunting experience is available on this site, and I hope to be able to learn even more as I read the forums. I hope to be able to contribute to this site as well. We are planning to hunt Wyoming again this fall...I plan to retire Sept. 30th, so that we can be sure to get out to Wyoming a little early for our hunt. We would like to stop again at Custer State Park in South Dakota for some fishing.

My goal is to get enough PP for Wy. Elk, I currently have 3 and will buy another this year. We do have an elk season in Michigan but its very difficult to draw a tag. I have been applying since the state started the elk draw 25 or 30 yrs ago!

Sorry, I'm rambling now....lol.....any info. I can provide to help, I will be happy too.

Looking forward to participating.

Thanks again for the great site and its members.

Welcome aboard! Wyoming is a wonderful place. I think it's the only place I could ever see myself moving to, but, there is no way I could ever talk the wife into that. Congrats on your upcoming retirement!

Welcome sir, I envy you on your upcoming retirement! I think I have something like 35 more years before retiring! Like Old Hunter said, thank you for wanting to contribute instead of asking for where to hunt!

I second that! I'm not far ahead of you, a little under 30 years to retirement! What's crazy, I turned 38 last week & I've been in the oil & gas industry for 20 years!

Welcome Blaze. The folks on this site are as down to earth as you can get on the net IMO. Congrats on your upcomming retirement, I hope to be there in about 25-30 years. I don't have alot of experiance in any state other than Oregon, but if you ever have interest in OR (why you would, I don't know??)let me know.

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome! Timberstalker, no I have ever hunted Oregon, but have thought about it. I have family in Bend, but have never been out to see them. They have been back here several times. Thank you for the offer, I would enjoy talking about it with you sometime. Akaviator, no I have not hunted Alaska either. I had always thought we take a trip to Alaska the year I retired, but due to the late time of year I will retire, I think it's out of the question this year. We are talking about driving up possibly in 2014. I would enjoy talking about a trip there as well sometime.

If anyone ever gets to Michgan and wants to hunt or Fish, don't hesitate to get hold of me. I will do everything I can to help you out!

Again Gentleman, thank you for the warm welcome.I look forward to sharing a few stories, I do have " just a couple"

Have a great day!

Its a small world Blaze, it just so happens I live in Bend too. If you ever do decide to try Oregon, I can help out. I've hunted just about every corner of the state in the last 30 years.

Blaze,
Good to see another Michigander on here. Only question that remains is... Yooper or Troll? Left da Yoop five years back and have been in Wyoming ever since. If you need any info (sorry not gonna share hotspots) shoot me a PM or an email.
Say Ya to da U.P. Eh!

Might be hunting black bear in the U.P. this fall!

Welcome.

MI elk? you def need a WY elk!

It's funny, I've hunted quite a few states, but WY is the only state I've killed in so far...

Definitely Glad to see another Michigander for sure! Got another troll here from the Lansing area but I have done a lot of deer hunting around the Baldwin and Yankee springs areas. Yup those Michigan elk tags are hard to get for sure! And for Definitely go with the U.P. Bear tags like blaze said way easier to draw and actually better hunting.
