Hey there, I am new to the forum and just figured I would start out with a little positive info/story. I hunted 82(deer) with a Region W tag as a NR this year which happened to be my first deer hunting trip in Wyoming. Man was it a great experience! I have to say that I come from California(I know I know please don't club me) and although many western states do a great job at managing (some better than others and California is obviously not one) Wyoming is holding their own. All of the information I was able to ascertain from the biologist/wardens/taxidermist etc. was very accurate and helpful. My dad and I ended up seeing close to 90 bucks and had an absolute blast in the 9 days and a good snow storm. I have been reading some posts on this forum and it is always interesting how hunters can have such different experiences yet be hunting the same hills. Obviously genetics, management practices, and a million other variables play into what makes a successful hunting area regardless of the species but I truly feel and based on experience that good old hunting hard/basic hunting tactics are the key to a successful hunt regardless of whether there are 200 bucks in the hills you are hunting or 1. I hope that I can learn from all of you guys on this forum but I also hope I may be able to help those in search of answers be more successful in the field. Headed to Idaho unit 30 for archery elk this year, cant wait already!!
