Thanks. Jerry Huffaker is a talented fella. He has this mount back right now, in fact. After winning the national taxidermy show last year with it, he got invited to the world show next weekend. I've got my fingers crossed for him - mostly so he'll be able to carry the mount to Springfield, MO and back without anything happening to it!! LOL But I hope he does well in the show too.Looking through some threads, and as a lover of quality taxidermy work, I had to comment after coming across this one.
All I can say is not only is that a beautiful animal, but also a great mount. Your taxidermist did an incredible job!
Yessir. What an incredible honor it is for Jerry too. Jerry texted me the news the morning after the show. When he came back into town the next day with my sheep in his trailer, I met him at my office so he could unload it. He told me more about the World Show. I didn't realize that they don't give out a Best In World award every year. He said that they have given out that award about 10 times since the early 70s when the show was first held. They have a scoring system that they use. In order to even be considered for an award, a mount has to score above a certain threshold first. Most years, the best mount in the show doesn't score high enough for an award to be given, apparently. Jerry's mount was good enough to be awarded. That's one heck of an accomplishment. Jerry told me that it wasn't that big of a deal, as the taxidermy world is relatively small. He said it's not like being best in the world in some other field where there is a lot more competition.I believe Jerry just won the Best in World Medium/Small Gamehead at the 2015 World Taxidermy Show with that mount.
