Does anyone know where I can find Colorado hunt unit boundaries for Google earth and how to use/view them on an iPad?
I have arcgis on my iPad. What files do I need for arcgis? The problem for the end user is to find a format compatible with G.E. Both CO and WY provide unit boundary data in ESRI shp format because they and most other Federal agencies use ARCGIS to do their GIS maps. Unfortunately, they're reluctant to provide GE formatted data and it can be difficult to find for some states; ie Colorado. Applying style templates and converting to KML/KMZ is a bother for them so what they are migrating to is ESRI cloud based mapping, ArcGis Online or Googles cloud based mapping. The WY 2016 Hunt Planner now includes this Cloud based mapping tool.
Thanks, Bob, I didn't realize SHP files worked on Google Earth Pro. That really opens things up.If you have regular google earth you need kml/kmz. If you upgrade to the pro version, which is now free, you can open most files offered; kml/kmz, shp, geo referenced tiff, etc.
Well I was able to open this file in GE iPad but not really do anything with it. I was afraid that trying to load those and GE would tax the iPads processor a bit too much. I may have to resort back to the computer.I got these in 2011, use at your own risk. CO Parks has a shape file but you will need G E Pro to import them.

Google Earth does use a lot of juice. Are you using the Pro version of GE? I don't know if it is any more energy-efficient.Well I was able to open this file in GE iPad but not really do anything with it.
