Got ya,

I thought the GPS on my phone had to have cell coverage.
I guess I never thought of it that way.

Learn something everyday!!!!!

After doing some quick reading; having cell coverage with my Droid would definitely be preferable, but as long as I have a fix when starting the app it will continue to run. Wondering how much memory the maps take?

I've gotta be honest...
I'm not real impressed with the app, and in fact I'm quite disappointed.
Using the "cached" maps in "offline" mode you can only zoom in to around 4,000 feet!
I've now gone back and forth with their support with no resolve.
I don't know about you guys but an accuracy of 4,000 feet just does not cut it.

Downloaded it to my phone last night, what a great phone app. I will use my phone app for hunting around home but when I head to alaska, wyoming or colorado I will be using my garmin.

Mailed my old Nebraska chip in for an update a couple of weeks ago. OnXmaps screwed up and mailed the chip to my old address in another state where I lived 3 years ago when I purchased the chips. I filled out the paperwork with all the updated contact info, even my check has the new address on it. Now I have no chip for my upcoming hunt and have received no response from the company about their mistake. Hopefully they will make this right ASAP.

I just downloaded the free hunt app. The best tool for us hunters I have ever seen. Big thanks to the RMEF for doing it for us. I put it on my iPad, and will be purchasing a Garmin 600 and the chip with it.

They contacted me and have sent out a new chip to the correct address this time. Good to know the company will take care of you. I'll give an update on the WIHA in Nebraska and Kansas once I get a chance to try it out.

I have it on my phone and used it in the mountains last week while hunting. It works fine in field mode with no reception and it will still pick up my GPS location. The one thing I found was that you have to make sure you download the map you want. ie. if you download the map and it's in world imagery then you can't pull up topo until you receive service again.

The detail of the cached maps can be very fine if you zoom in close before you select which areas to cache. Almost too fine in fact
