Staple for me. I've had an elk every year since I started hunting a few years ago. It's just the two of us so a deer, elk and an antelope is a lot of meat for us.

Ive never put down an elk, but we have a steady supply of deer meat. I try to utilize my deer meat in as many recipes as I can.

Elk and some years we put 3 or 4 in the freezer. Deer and antelope, hopefully more feral hogs, top it off.
Bison meat will spoil you though, we had the privilege of putting 2 cow bison in our freezer, on back to back years.

A staple ... but still a treat!
I don't get an elk every year but often enough that we're pretty used to it. And if I don't get an elk I usually get something, deer, antelope, etc so we usually have some type of venison.

Staple. It's our "beef". Don't buy beef at my house. We usually have some deer and the occasional antelope, and then Salmon for variety.

Its a staple as long as i have it in the freezer. We have a herd of meat goats so we harvest a couple a year.
I love goat meat. Roasted, braised, bbq, birria, it's all good. It's too bad they don't sell it in the regular grocery stores.
Every now and then I find it in one of the "mexican" stores but I don't go into town very often.

In our house, elk and deer are staples. Antelope back straps are a treat. I occasionally buy ground beef for burgers, which is a treat. We haven't bought beef steaks for years. Grouse of any kind is a treat.

Elk is a staple but freezer is getting thin and archery cow is kicking my arse over the past 3 years......mule deer is a treat, got my first muley in 4 or 5 years last year. Almost forgot how amazing they taste. Antelope are a treat, hard to get tags here in NV. Chuckar/Huns staple.......grouse treat.

Any kind of wild game that we are blessed to harvest is a staple in our house. Over the last few years that has been Deer and moose. However ELK is by far my favorite to eat. My family also loves ducks, geese, upland birds and rabbits.

Elk was a staple during my college years. Now that I live in the East, it is a treat.

It has been way too long since I have gotten an elk.

It’s a staple in years when I get one, otherwise we get by on whitetails and maybe a Muley. When we have an elk we’ll go through it and two deer. No elk and we need to put up 5 deer. I’ll be doing everything I can this fall to make sure elk is a staple from this October through summer 2019!

Treat for us. Elk tags are rare in NV so when we get one it doesn?t last long. Deer and Antelope are always in the freezer.
