For you guys living in the hunt areas, what is your opinion on the winter impact so far? Many guys are researching and getting applications in order so any info may help. Thanks in advance.

I think I’m going with points again this year. Good luck on research and the elk draws this year.
FYI Nevada has been normal on the elk units as of today but that can still change, lots of time left
Of course... but many applications are due before then so thought it couldn't hurt to get the latest reports we have.

I'll be putting in for a M/L tag here in Colo. Really havn't made up my mind where yet. I'll also be burning all my 13 NR point in Wy for deer.

Northeast from Sheridan east, Saratoga area, Kemmerer areas could probably use quite a bit more snow, but other areas look like they are close or above average for snow. It has been pretty cold for a couple weeks, but that is not unusual, and it hasn't been absurdly cold. November seemed pretty mild overall to me, maybe even too dry, December probably average. Haven't heard that is has been brutal on the west side of the state yet like last year, but I am kindof out of the loop on that. Farmers almanac had western Wyoming as cold and snowy but not as cold as usual if I read that right. Mild and wet on the east side. Hopefully we get some wet spring snows here. Not sure how helpful that was, but thats what I got.

You guys probably already know this, but odds are that there may be live cameras on some of the public water reservoirs in your units, as well as snotel telemetry. While not the final word on how bambi is faring thru the winter, its something to look at. [emoji6]

Just go to the various Game Fish Dept websites they usually post info if the elk aren't doing well. Elk are a lot more tougher than deer.
I'll be applying for AZ, CO, MT, and NM. Should draw a tag or two. WY for me is OTC except the limited quota areas.

Max WY elk points here, probably more points for me until I can afford to do the tag justice.
Be careful what you wish for... sometimes less points, lesser areas* are easier hunts to plan/DIY etc...
I was getting a bit anxious about WY elk in Jan apps due, but with points I have until OCT? but I would like to burn these points sooner than later, but need some $$, and a spot, outfitter probably, etc... maybe next year or the year after.

Colorado has been pretty mild this year so far, ski resorts have been dying for snow. Could change over the next couple months though.

Western WY is having an extremely mild winter so far...almost no snow in Jackson. There's been very few elk on the refuge and I've heard similar reports on some of the state feed grounds in the area.
