Finally started hitting it hard this week and man do I feel better... For those of you "waiting" to get started just force yourself through the first couple work outs. You will feel better I promise! Once I do this I actually start to look forward to them....

Good luck everyone.
Agreed. I was a hurting unit for a little while, but things got loosened back up and then I felt pretty good. Now I just have to be disciplined and not skip out of stuff.

All right gents, here we go with today's weigh in numbers:

Age: 31
Height: 6’1”
Weight: 299 lbs. (down four pounds)
Body Fat %: 36.4 (down 2%)
Body water %: 46.4 (up 1% this is a good thing)
Muscle mass: 181.2 lbs. (up 3.4 lbs)
Basal Metabolic Rate (rate of energy expended at rest): 2692 calories (up 42, I am assuming this means the metabolism has kicked in)
Bone mass: 9.2 lbs. (same)
Visceral fat (read that as most detrimental fat): 18 (down 1 point)

So overall, I am very happy to be headed in the right direction! We start running next week and I am stoked to see the numbers again in another month.

Here's the next workout (can be combined with the original):

40 Jumping Jacks
15 jump squats
20 lunges
40 Mtn. Climbers
10 Burpees
20 Cross/X Crunches
60 second Superman
20 Spiderman push ups (moving or in place)
40 high knees (in place of moving)
10 Leg Drops (3 reps = 1)
60 second Alt. plank (high to low)
40 Cross Knee Mtn. Climbers

So there it is, back to work and hold strong!

Nice job! I don't think I could still run it in the 7's. I'm thinking I would be more in the 8's, closer to 9 minute range. Out of curiosity I may have to test myself just to see.

My mile is about 12 minutes right now as well. My son and I build fence all day Saturday... best workout of the season! I am still really sore. I'm not losing much weight yet but I can feel a difference.

Just a note to those with shoulder injuries, the Spiderman Push Ups and Alternating Planks might give you some trouble, they did for me. I have an email into Rinda for some alternates, I will let you know when I get those back. I also stepped on the scale this morning for fun and it read 297, down six pounds since we started. Last week was not as good of a week as I would have liked for my diet or workouts either, so I was glad to see the positive result. Keep at it, antelope season is only three months away!

Human body is weird for sure... Workout for 2 weeks and lose about 1/2 pound. I skipped weighing myself for two days and then this morning I'm down 6 pounds. I didn't even work out very hard last night because I am coaching my sons baseball team and we had a 2 hour practice. Just weird...

Have a picture of an elk on my fridge to help me stay motivated to eat healthy. I want that elk hunt way more than that snack! Working so far.

Nice work Hilltop! Sounds like you're a lot like Scott, I would say your metabolism is just now kicking in. Stay at it, it will pay off!

From Rinda...

Do birddogs instead of the alt. planks and then do an elevated or supported push-up.

For the supported push-up use a sturdy weighted structured like a couch or wall etc. the lower the ground the more difficult and more strain on the shoulder.

Birddogs is on all fours (hands and knees) and lifting opposite arm and leg at same time, hold at top for 5 sec count. Do 10 total 5 each side.

Interval running last night in the cold and wind as a snowstorm was blowing out of the basin was not fun! I just kept thinking of a giant muley at 35 yards this fall just below snowline, in the backcountry as I start putting tension on my bowstring. Motivation for this guy!
