It's a religion down here in TX. Opening day is a big, big deal. I love wingshooting and those doves are a real challenge.

I enjoy dove hunting! Unfortunately it is so hit or miss in Colorado! Usually right before or just after the opener we get a cold snap and most disappear.

I've hunted them all my life. Never had the big numbers to kill but we have got into them pretty good overt he years.

We open up on September 1, I'll usually go opening day, then maybe once or twice more. Teal season usually starts within a week of the dove opener, so I move on to the teal... Then, ELK!!!!

The only time I have ever been shot- dove hunting in Texas. There are so many people out in the fields it gets a little scary. I do hunt them every year in Nebraska. They are a good warm up for the early teal season and like mentioned, pretty good to eat.

I have a friend with 40 acres here who's property is between feed lots. Around 4:00 PM on the afternoons I am in town we put the hammer down.

This is what we did in about 3 hours of hunting on his place last year:

Should be some fun hunting this year.

Looks like a good time Scott! We hunt a feed lot here as well. The lot sits on about a 400 acre corn field that they cut for silage right before the season. It's usually good for a few, lol.

Unrelated... Will Wingmen be running the new Sitka waders this year?

Dove hunting is a huge social event down here in south Texas. There are ranches & farms that will put on hunts over huge sunflower fields that may have two or three hundred hunters shooting over it. It can be downright scary on some of those hunts but on a good field practically every shooter will kill a limit in an hour. We have a place close to the border that has good dove hunting, we’ll usually have 20 or so people down for the dove opener.
