Is this the part where I am supposed to chime in and say: "Ya, as long as I get one of the tags!"??
Fortunately, that's not the case as I have no problem waiting my turn. Never have. It's a fact of life.

It's the constant moving of the proverbial goalposts that pisses me off... Obviously, it pisses off ColoradoV as well or he wouldn't be so upset about the loss of 100 top tier tags....So, I get it.

I (as a NR) am on the receiving end of the "potential" loss of 2900 tags.....So Ya, I/we (wherever the rest of the "we" are at...) feel slightly slighted.

Nothing I can do about it though other than write in on the CPW's little "public outreach" forms that they email me from time to time.

I'm not just talking about reducing non resident but residents just as well and as a resident I would be willing to wait and hunt every couple of years instead of every year.......

I don't hunt colorado, but i hear this in other states. Personally i would rather shoot a raghorn every year than a chance at a big bull every couple of years. You can't eat horns, but i have become very used to eating elk.

The high plains of Colorado
To the OP question. I have 19 points and spent 4 days in that unit during one of those seasons. I plan on going back up there this year and going a little deeper and getting a better look. I don't know which season i would pick yet. I do know of two pigs that were taken last year and the pictures have several people in the pictures with matching hats. As Colorado V stated, I assume those are some of the "guides" that camped on the deer for someone to show up and pull the trigger. Not a lot of days in those seasons, that is the one thing that has me 2nd guessing that area

I drew the 4th season deer tag in 2016 with 23 non-resident points. Spent the week before the opener in the unit, and also with a friend a few years earlier on his hunt.
If you look at the numbers the population is down alot since the early 2000's. During my hunt we ran into groups of guys that were finding deer and offering to give location for a reward. My son and I did it on our own and on the last day we found the buck of my dreams.
He scores 209 inches with lots of character but it was a hard hunt. If you draw the tag be careful not to expect to much but with hard hunting it can happen.
