I drew the muzzleloader bull tag for 201 last year and had to send it back in for my points. I drew it again this year and would love to hear back from some of the contacts that I made in 2013 and anyone else who wants to chime in with advice, stories or anything. I'm leaving tomorrow morning for the first scouting trip of the summer.

I drew the archery tag in 2010 and did a ton of research and turned the tag back in. I am hunting Unit 61 muzzleloader this year. I can share some info with you, but it would be a couple weeks before I have time to give detailed info.

Fourth of July scouting weekend

Returned last night from a long 4 day weekend. Had a blast, saw lots of the country and 12 good bulls. Attached is one of a few photos that I was able to take of 2 bulls. The one on the right is a 6x6 with a 7th point on the right just starting. The smallest bull I saw was a nice 5x5. Some of the photos I shot were late in the evening and although they are dark you can still make out the racks.
Can't wait 'till September!

I went with a friend first rifle three years ago. If you are looking for any specifics he would be willing to help, I'm sure.

ADnCO,
Thanks for the response.
I'd love to know if he was successful?
If so, what did he shoot?
What areas in 201 did you hunt?
Where did you camp? Was it crowded?
Where would you recommend that I focus my efforts? (I already have a good idea but it would be interesting to see what your friend has to say.)
In hindsight, would he do anything differently?
Any other halpful advice would be good to hear.

Graybird,

After I hopefully harvest a bull in September I'll help your buddy with information on the unit and what I learned.

If he's my age I hope he knows it may be the hunt of a lifetime.

Thats going to be an awesome time. I'll be south of the Yampa in 10. Heading back again this weekend to check out 10 as well as checking out south of White for deer. Gonna be a great fall.
