So this year was my first to put in and I assume I did not get drawn because my CPW account says "Not Awarded". My unsuccessful option was a leftover tag. How does the leftover tag system work, will they send me one automatically if available or will there be a choice of some kind? Good news is I now have a point for Elk!
The website is a day behind hitting your CC and even sending you a confirmation email. I got emails but the website still says Accepted instead of awarded on both elk and deer. However, they did bump up my points on the website because it was my second choices I drew.

I had another banner year in the draws! Probably overbooked myself and I'll just need to see how things sort themselves out.

CO rifle antelope buck (used 11 points)
CO MZL cow elk (2nd choice, same unit as antelope)
CO MZL mule deer (2nd choice)
WY reduced cow/calf
NV premium late mule deer
NV premium antelope

Only Oklahoma draw left and I think I was at 15-16 points for elk and antelope. It would be crazy to add another to the list.

There are only a handful of tags that take that many points. So I don't attract too much attention next year, lets just say " a place with good bear".
I went through and looked and my guess was right on what unit it was.

I can't believe how many hunters have that many points and either pulled out of that unit and moved to another one. Looking at them was insane at the point totals.

Wow, no way I could handle all that this year. I?m worried about fitting in both NV and CO mule deer. Only apps I still have out are AZ deer/sheep and IA whitetail.

Just got the e-mail confirmation on the muzzy elk tag. So now it's a combo hunt. Along with a couple WY antelope does and a late season (January) WY cow elk hunt, it will be a fantasy fall ahead of me.

Got all my alerts now.

I missed my antelope draw for my daddy/daughter hunt, got the preference point (total of 3 now). My backup plan is to take her out for grouse. She's still excited.

Got a preference point for bear (total of 4 now). I'm not ready to hunt those yet, but at least I have some points for when I am. Maybe next year. I'm just not seeing enough bear on my scouting trips to believe my skills are up to it yet.

Drew a cow first rifle tag for the Flat Tops, and my wife and I both drew doe second rifle near Kremmling (we're going together on that one.) Both are busy zones, but I know them both so I know some spots near some escape routes where I might get lucky and pick something off.

I'm debating getting a bull OTC tag for archery, or maybe a 3rd/4th season buck tag from the leftovers. Just an excuse to get out of the house, really. I patterned a 4-pt buck 2 years ago with my son in GMU 38, which often has plenty of leftover because it's such a hot mess. Might be interesting to get out and see if he's still romping around.

A buddy and I are going on a 3-day scouting/backpacking trip into the Flat Tops this Friday. We'll see how it looks after this past year - snowfall was way higher than typical (200% in some spots). I expect some mud (and overnight cold).

In a few weeks a different buddy, his wife, and I are backpacking into Shipman Park, GMU 7. I have a trail cam up there near some wallows that I forgot about, so I want to go get it. I don't plan to hunt there again any time soon but it should be a nice trip anyway.

Great unit! Congrats!!
Which season?
2nd season... I would love to have one of the better hunts for this unit. I've had the opportunity to hunt with others during these better options (archery, muzzle, 1st rifle). But I've waited 10 years now and that's WAY longer than I ever anticipated waiting! After this, I'm done collecting points. I'll grab a 61 cow tag every other year or so then hunt archery elk in OTC units on the off years.

What unit is your CO antelope buck for? Send me a PM if you don't wanna mention it here...

Gonna be lots of mud up there if you are going up this Friday. Might be more snow up there right now then I have ever seen this time of year. Have Fun!
Yeah, plus the guy I'm going up with is like 20 years younger than me and our planned route has a total of 3500' or so of up/down elevation change? Luckily he tolerates my "dad breaks" really well! :D
