Loonng time lurker, new member.

Well, I guess I have a problem most would like to have. I have 19 resident pts for antelope, problem is...I really want to cash em in but not sure where. I have a great contact up in Craig that says that part of the country isnt worth the points it takes to draw anymore. I have heard some decent things around Walden and of course SE part of the state. I know there are numerous RFW opportunities but I cant seem to find any suggestions, opinions or success stories from any of them.
I understand Colorado isnt exactly the best speed goat trophy state, but would like a decent hunt. Im not worried about spending 19 on a 5 point unit as long as it is a good hunt with the possibility of a decent buck. Antelope dont know how many points you have when you shoot em!!!!

I appreciate any input and thanks in advance

I would just go check out the success rates on the Colorado website, and cross reference that with public land access.

I would say if it takes 19 points to draw, it will fit the parameters you listed.

I was talking with a local GW back during the fall season because I'm starting to get enough points to use them, too. He mentioned that some of the bigger bucks in the state are coming out of North Park units. Other than that, not sure how much else I can add. I was beginning to start looking at the South Park Units. You will see several good bucks along the road in these units and can imagine that private land access is likely the biggest deterrent.

Here is a curveball for ya. Eastern plains north of 24 from Peyton to Limon or GMU-82 down south in the Sangre De Christos. PM if you got some more questions......and I don't know how many points either would take.....just know what I see in those areas :)

You don't want 67. Can make it a 10 minute hunt (if Winter allows), but you're probably not going to real thrilled with the size.

I know of some friends that burned points last year on unit 3 and were not real impressed although they both killed nice bucks so I don't know what to think about that report. Lots of hunters and trophy quality seemed to be down some and private is mixed with public pretty good is what they said.

As I see it if you have that many points you should of been scouting out different units for the last 5 or 6 years if you are a resident.

I burned 17 points a few years ago and I knew what unit I wanted to hunt from the time that I had 13 points.

I thought i would revive this thread. I am in the same boat as furmaster was a couple of years ago. I now have 19 points for Colorado Antelope. I know this sounds crazy but antelope have never been a big part of my hunting. I have shot about a dozen does and a few bucks over the years, all this time building points and putting in for 2nd choice hunts. Now that I have a bunch of points, I would like to use them on a respectable unit. I know about the private land struggles in the South Park area and have seen a bunch of country in the n/w corner that never had big goats. I would like to keep my hunts on the eastern plains so that means I am probably looking at the s/e corner. Does anyone out there have any input?

Shoot me a PM too I've hunted nearly all the "trophy" areas. "trophy areas" and "antelope" and "Colorado" always make me cringe in the same sentence

I'll throw my name in the ring too. :) Sitting on 19 as a nonresident. I think I'll probably hold off until I have another hunt to combine it with since it's a long haul to Colorado.

Me too I guess. I have 16 points as a resident. I have a couple of GMUs I've been waiting to get into but point creep keeps getting me. Maybe I should start looking at other areas.

What do my whopping 6 antelope points get me?!

Depression is the most accurate answer ...;)
