Well, no hit for me yet. I might be a victim of more applications due to just the app fee and not having to put the money up front.

The last 20 or so years I have been able to draw a third season cow elk tag as a second choice with no problem. This year I put in for it with zero points as a first choice and no love yet.

We'll see what happens with my muzzle loader deer tag. My first choice isn't a certain draw but it is close but my second choice hunt has gone to leftover that you can get over the counter, we'll see.
Matt told me they cut cow tags down to like 10 or something. My kids didn't draw as second choice starting last year. This year the same. First time ever I didn't get either sex 4th season as second choice. Just otc this year.
In 444 btw

I'm still waiting for my e-mail about Deer and Elk ... no news yet.

I have 2 friends who only applied for Preference Points (1 Res & 1 Non-Res) and they both received e-mails that they got their points and they were charged a $40 fee for each point.
Maybe I missed that in the new Regulations ... Did they say Preference Points were going to cost $40?

Preference points have been $40 per species for residents for a number of years. You're exempt from the $40 point fee if you held an annual license the previous year.

Received an email this AM, along with the $46 CC charge.

First choice was for preference points, and 2nd, 3rd, and 4th choices were for Ranching for Wildlife. Unsuccessful for those last three.

The unsuccessful option I received was OTC Bull 2nd Rifle OCT 20-28, statewide.

Hunt code is EM000U2R. Male elk, 2nd rifle season is easy to decipher from the hunt code, but where do I find the reference to 000, or triple-zero? What about the U? My guess is triple-zero is statewide, and the U is a reference to being an unsuccessful option.

I looked through the CPW 2018 Colorado Big Game brochure and did not see those specific codes.

My wife drew her either sex ML elk tag, I got a pref point. My son drew his elk archery tag so we will be in the woods, but looks like I am the mule this year.

A way around that $40 fee if you apply for both deer and elk is just to purchase a annual fishing license for this year for $56 Then next year if you just want points you won't have to pay that preference point fee which could add up fast if you apply for more than one animal.

Looks like I'm headed out on the muzzle loader for deer this year. Just don't know which one I drew yet. Either unit 44 or 35, I'm betting it is for unit 35

Looks like it is going to be a busy fall for me.

Drew my bighorn sheep, MZL bull elk, some sort of deer tag hoping it is the 4th season rut, a lock for at least a doe antelope and bear tag. Who knows about moose but someone with the same point level I'm at drew the unit I put in for.

I'm glad the MZL elk tag is in the same area as my sheep tag. I'd better get good with the MZL in the event Mr. Full Curl steps out and all I have is the MZL in hand.
