As they say they have been working on it for quite a while now and this last shooting was the push that they needed to get it done.
Canada is a lot like us here in the US, they are ruled by the large metro areas who don't care about anyone else. Their biggest problem is that they don't have a Second Amendment type language to protect firearms.

There will be a lot of blood spilled over this. There are a LOT of people in Canada who will NOT give up their firearms without a fight.
