would you think less of me if i booked this hunt?
If you got the money to hunt Tiburon island...go for it. Sheep hunting is an expensive game. The way I see it...if one has the money to be able to hunt the higher end, go for it! You only have one life and it ain’t long. So enjoy it!

Love to hear more about this Greenland muskox hunt. 👍
BC; my guide that I had for my 2019 muzzy elk hunt in CO had just returned from a Greenland musk ox hunt. He had a grand adventure and plans on a full body mount (he's a taxi.) It wasn't god-awful expensive, but logistically a PIA, and his ox is still in Norway waiting for the CITES export approval. PM me if you want his ph.#.

I was more screwing with mallard, but i am to cheap to book it.
I have learned the us population is way richer than people on the internet want it to be.

Sheep hunting is not cheap, but is it worth it? Only you can answer that.
When i pulled the trigger on my stone ram, i thought to myself, "was that worth, $30,000. No, but i have a lofty goal, so i guess this is what i have to do."

I can buy a desert sheep tag, but i have to question, what else could i do with that money. but a liftetime goal is a lifetime goal.

I was talking to an older gent who has done well for himself, and he talked about his friends taking $100,000 vacations. So i guess it can all be relative. The gent i was talking to, owns part of manufacturing business, and my business buys from his.

Tim,
You’re absolutely right, you can’t take it with you! Make the most of it. Awesome sheep pics man! Before I die, I will take some sheep. My dad was fortunate enough to get his grand slam before he passed. By no means was he rich, rather invested the money he made into living the life of hunting he wanted and making the memories. My mom often questioned his sanity, but we have a lifetime of great memories to with it!

"No, DO NOT sell me a preference point if I am unsuccessful in the draw."

You DO NOT have to purchase a PP for either if you don't opt to. Just the non-refundable application fee of $15. My math is correct if I choose not to get the PP.
I see this is new for 2021.
NEW FOR 2021 • Nonresident Moose and Bighorn Sheep Applicants – When submitting applications nonresident applicants will have to elect to be awarded a preference point if unsuccessful in the draw

Yep, and its going to screw some people that forget to check the right box...as well as the random odds of drawing a moose or sheep.

Good Luck.
Have a goal and work towards it, all you can really do is apply, save, pray, lol.

I think this is why they now have the NA25 slam instead of the 29 etc... the costs associated with desert bighorn, polar bear, etc...

btw have you seen the cost of an alaska yukon moose hunt? I just got a catalog with 32k for a moose hunt! and plenty in the 20k+ price range, 1 private land moose hunt was $38k!

PS- I'm quite certain a NR in WY has to pay for the PP for sheep, and moose, I wish they would allow you to simply apply for the random tag, but honestly I think they may be trying to keep applications down.....as if they allowed this, many more would apply for the random tags.
unless something has changed or I'm mistaken....

Wow! good and bad, IMO!

the units with random tags may become flooded....with applicants....

IMO, a guy with 0-15pts shouldn't even apply for a ram tag in WY, unless is a random one....

PS- I really think many applicants with sub-maximal points should try to draw a cow tag etc... as for moose, for sheep I dunno, perhaps a ewe tag? but to each their own, I just think I'd rather hunt a cow moose at 75yo than wait another 20 years and hunt a bull at 95 if even possible....is my point....

and yeah I can see that really affecting the points for those who don't check that box this year....going from max points with bad odds....to next year, 1 less than max points with bad odds....

maybe they're trying to clear out some folks...

Full mount is the only Musk Ox I'd get... i saw a greenland hunt but yea seemed like travel was tricky etc...I figured I'd just head north....

I could see a rug being cool though...

I'd also suggest you get in contact with some outfitters and get on thier cancellation list. What your attempting do can be done, but it's going to be expensive. Especially the sheep. I would recommend you go to AK or BC for mountain goat. The lower 48 is really hard to draw a tag. Your best bet for Desert Sheep is Mexico. I have a buddy who is 63 with max points for desert in UT and still can't draw.

Frank Noska from AK has two archery Super Slams and is more than half way through his third. I think he's 56. His strategy is he moved to AK and is a commercial pilot for UPS. He gets paid well and has lot of time off. Also he's not married.

Good luck on your quest.

Moving to Alaska is not out of the question and I could see this happening in the future for Dall, Mountain Goat, and Bear. My best friend'ss brother lives in Alaska and I'll end up hunting Yukon Moose there with my best friend and his brother. But, I'm in the wildlife field soooo money is slim, and moving to Alaska would help bridge that gap as I would be able to do DIY for all of those species of animals.
