I am a long time lurker of this site and finally decided to join. I heard a lot of good things about area 11 near Arlington for good bulls. I saw the bad odds and thought that someone had to draw that tag. Low and behold, I was successful for the any elk tag. I know some guys that have hunted the area or guys that keep putting in and can't pull it in the draw.

Anyone have any insights on the area they want to share via a pm message or just share some pictures of past bulls.

I'm not looking for honey holes, just some info on what to expect as far as size of herds and what the expectation of bulls are.

Thanks in advance.

Nobody is ever looking for any honeyholes on a first post, LOL! Maybe you should go introduce yourself in the New Member Forum, let us know a few things about yourself, and just maybe a member might be able to give you a few tips. Welcome to the site!

I will do just that. With other sites that I am a member of, not to many people look at the introductions. You should all check it out when I get it posted. I don't ask for honey holes, but I will help those that draw the once in a lifetime tags that I have drawn since I want them to have a great hunting experience that I have had and never again will in those units and states. I have hunted a lot of western states and taken some great trophies over the years.

I have a little experience in this area. I couldn't give you a honey hole if I wanted but I have seen a few of the bulls to come out of this area. I believe the area has the potential to produce 350-400 class bulls but I'm not sure it would be realistic to hold out for one. Most of the elk I have seen taken were decent 5x5 to smallish 6x6. I did see one bull harvested, a symmetrical 7x7, that I believe would score in the high 300s. I think the genetics are there to produce world class bulls but I think a good portion get harvested long before they reach top end. I personally feel that your best opportunity at a big bull would be during archery season. Hunting pressure is low and most of the elk are up high on public. I have been told that a good number of elk are on private once the rifle hunters hit the mountain. If you do an internet search for this area you will find one or two outfitters that hunt here and provide drop camps here. The drop camps I looked in to are on the national forest. The pictures they post will give you an idea of some of the areas bulls. Wish you good luck and please post pictures for us.
