A friendly HELLO from Wisconsin

Hi everyone

Just wanted to introduce myself on here. My names Jeremy and I'm from northern Wisconsin. I'm pretty green when it comes to "OUT WEST" hunting. Been on 1 mule deer hunt in Wyoming. (Awesome time hunting even though I didn't get a chance to fill my tag)

I am a huge fan of hunting whitetails here in Wisconsin but now the wolves/predators and the DNR are trying to make them extinct.

Anyway I've been collecting preference points in Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming for both mule deer and elk. Planning on coming to Colorado this year for mule deer hopefully if I can draw a tag.

Kind of funny. We have an area in the Snowy Range we have nick named Wisconsin. There has been a camp of guys coming there off and on for years so now we just call that drainage Wisconsin. They are very nice guys and they shoot plenty of elk!

I'm thinking a 4th season deer hunt. Public land DIY. Hoping to better my odds being i never hunted in colorado so hoping the weather and closer to the rut will help me. Should be less hunting pressure. I know I can't hunt a "trophy" unit but I'll have to do the best I can. Not looking for a booner or anything just a respectable buck

Colorado is an excellent choice to chase mulies! And even a "respectable" mulie is a great trophy, especially for us Midwesterners who only get to chase whitetails at home.

Have you started researching what GMUs to hunt?

Yeah Ive spent a fair amount if time looking at gmu's. I have 5 preference points so I've been looking at 80/81 and 25/26. Not completely sure what I'm going to do yet.
