Definitely a first for me! A spend a lot of the time in the mountains but have never come across this! I was shed hunting when we discovered this cat! There did not appear to be a single thing wrong with it. No sign of a struggle with another cat or animal. It was only a few days old from what I can tell.
The only thing I can figure is that it starved. It may have been bloated which made it look healthy. Not sure what to think! It was a long ways in from any road or trail! Just wonder what all of your thoughts are!
Pretty amazing either way! Not an everyday occurrence.

Did you happen to call CP&W by chance?

I doubt that it would of have starved. Perhaps it was sick or just died from natural causes Poison is more likely, the cat could of picked it up and traveled for a day or so to where you found it.

But it is hard to say.

I did not call CPW. I guess poison never crossed my mind. Just thought it was odd just lying on its side like that.
