I've dreamed about having a custom rifle one day and never thought it would happen, but it did! :D I've always wanted a Winchester with the controlled round feed in a .280 Remington. I did not want the Featherweight though because I wanted it to have a 24" barrel. I found a donor rifle/action and started last spring. I just picked it up from my gunsmith on January 27th which would have been my father's birthday and he's the one that pushed me to do something just for myself for a change.

Here's the stats.
Gunsmith: Bob Peterson Missoula MT
Winchester Model 70 Classic Sporter: pillar & glass bedded.
Shilen stainless air gauged 24" standard model 70 contour barrel - 1 in 9 twist - .280 Nosler AI
Trigger adjusted to 2.5 pounds.
The action was trued, the bolt trued up, and the lugs lapped.
The metal was done in John Norrell Arms moly resin
Weight: Just a touch over 7.5 pounds as it sits.

That's sweet. I like your choice of caliber too. Anxious to hear how it shoots for you!

Great looking rifle in a chambering I admire. Congratulations.

Have you checked out the Varmint Hunter reticle from Leupold also? Having owned both I found I preferred the finer crosshair in the VH to the B&C reticle. You might think different, just wanted to throw that out there. The 280AI should be flat enough to be zeroed to use the VH reticle, and I found I preferred the extra windage holds. Just my opinion, it's a darn nice scope with any reticle and I'm sure you will be pleased.

Thanks McSeal. I have looked at them on their web-site but I do not think I have gotten to look through one in person. That's something to consider. I will have to check it out. Just have to hope that one of the shops has one locally so I can see it.
