You aren't really a member of the 280 AI family until you have cartridges to go along with the rifle, so I broke down and bought a box of factory rounds to break in the barrel with when I can afford to put a scope on. The knife in the photo I just won at another forum for guessing the total point score of the super bowl game!! I'm not even a football fan but I threw a total out there and won!

The knife turned out very nice and was hand-built! It is 440 stainless and has two colors of buffalo horn on the handle. Encorehunter (Jody) also hand-made the sheath. Pretty cool I think!

Almost have enough $$$ saved for the scope so it won't be long before I'm out firing away!! Man I cannot wait, and spring bear is in full swing!! I think I need to pack a Model 70 to the hills!

That's quite a set-up! I've always considered a .280 in any flavor to be the gentleman shooter's rifle. Keep us posted with how it does!

I got the scope finally and put it on . I picked up a 4.5-14x40mm Leupold with the B&C reticle. I used Talley low mounts to attach it to the rifle.

I used a box of Nosler 140 gr. Accubonds to break in the barrel with, shooting and cleaning between each shot. After several rounds I got it dialed pretty close to where it needs to be at 100 yards, so I stopped messing with adjustments and still shot and cleaned but was shooting for group. Now considering that and they are factory loads, I was pretty happy. I shot 4 and pulled number 5 slightly out on the upper right. Number 6 went right back with the others.
I cannot wait to get some handloads worked up.

Wow, your setup is great. That's a great rifle/scope combination, plus a way cool knife to go along with it. Now I hope to see a photo of you skinning out a big bear!

Congratulations!

I loved my .280 Remington before I sold it and regretted that, and I wanted to replace it. I really like this thing but would be just as tickled with the plain old .280. Still pretty darn cool though!

Took my rifle for it's maiden hunting voyage today looking for a black bear. Never saw any bears but did see quite a few whitetail deer and mule deer which was nice. It was overcast and starting dropping a few sprinkles on me right at the end. Pretty nice though and it was about 42 degrees when I was hiking.

6mm, great pictures, what no bear! Lol I really like the look of that rifle, I thought I'd never say that after getting my model 70 extreme weather 7mm.
