What is everyone's plans for this season ? I will be just hunting close to home in MI this year like I usually do. I would like to eventually have a shot at a Merriam's some day.
Hate hunting in the wind!Tough hunting Saturday and Sunday. High winds, cool temperatures. Didn't even hear a bird Saturday. Sunday I heard a bird and tried to close the distance but he only gobbled three times on the roost. Sat there until 11:00 waiting him out to try and relocate him then threw in the towel. The wind was really howling...
This weekend appears to be cool with rain and wind for both sat and sun....I'll give it a whirl again and see what happens. I might go to my hog spot and try to do a dual purpose hunt this time....
I actually like it- I have called quite a few toms in during 20+MPH winds. I find they come in much easier IF you can get close enough for them to hear.Hate hunting in the wind!
There is always OTC Nebraska as well if you want another state to hunt.Lookin' like MT for me this year, hopefully! Probably Wyoming general as well. I dropped the ball on Iowa and didn't get my app in on time. Figured I could pick up a leftover... yeah right! Shoulda known better.
I know, I mean to do that one every year and just run out of time. It's on my list for sure! There is always OTC Nebraska as well if you want another state to hunt.
Lot of turkeys here but not much public land to hunt them on. If a guy does his research it can be a great hunt though.I know, I mean to do that one every year and just run out of time. It's on my list for sure!
Here too but I don't like it, lolThey are used to the wind there. lol
