Colorado 2017, 4th season. Conditions weren't favorable for hunting wintering ground, mature bucks hadn't migrated down yet. Cold weather finally brought out low-elevation resident bucks and tags and freezers were filled (Ruger 7mm RemMag, 150gr Rem CorLokt, Leopold VXII 3-9, 200 yard shot, front shoulder pass-through dropped in his tracks). Thanks to Forum members (you know who you are) for much appreciated advice.

Well dad finally drew a muzzy tag in South Dakota after five years of waiting. The tag is usually good for the whole state, but they shut down nearly half of the state due to low populations from disease and hard winters. We normally hunt in an area that was closed this year so we branched out into new country. We saw a lot more deer than expected but only a few mature bucks. Found this guy and he couldn?t resist him for his first muzzy buck. We Packed him back to the truck a little over 6 miles in three hours in the dark. It had been four years since dad and I had gotten to hunt together. It was a great time and we are ready to go again!

Sons second season Colorado buck. Hunted the end of season to hopefully catch some weather and reduced pressure.
