Both of my boys drew spike tags, and my brother drew a 600 series one deer bag limit hunt. I'll be a busy guide, camp tender and hopefully packer...

278A2 High dessert elk
623A SW Santiam doe

Wife:

Definitely enough to keep us busy and fill the freezer for sure. I am really looking forward to the Steens. It's the weekend of my 50th birthday, been on the list for me for a while.

ODFW white collar thieves with their 2 1/2% NR quota & outfitter welfare ripped me off again. I would have drawn 5 years ago without their bait-n-switch BS & $182 annual free money. Pathetic.

You drew my tag Joe congrats!! Keep us updated
Sorry Man! I will do my best to share the experience. I was kind of liking the idea of the rifle hunt next year but here I go. At least I think I have talked myself in to a new bow. :D

I have a friend who drew it with 0 points. Pretty sure it was his first time applying for a tag ever.... Life is not fair! Happy for him though. Super nice guy..

We drew second choice for deer and elk. totally new place for elk. looking forward to learning a new place.

My kid can also buy the cascade bull tag OTC and we can hunt the week before we go east for my tag. looking like 20-30 days in the woods this year for me.

I drew Metolius rifle with my dad and best friend. I already have cameras set up in the unit. I have been seeing a lot of does and bear on camera. Good times

We'll be spending all our time in the Cascades this year. My daughter drew her second choice deer and I will be hunting the general seasons deer and elk.

Drew a Ochoco cow tag. No antler tags. Looks like it'll be a scouting year. Maybe I'll get lucky and find a landowner tag.

I'm always amazed at how many non-residents complain about the low nummber of tags available to them. I'm sure most western state hunters would not want to share their tags with non res hunters 50-50.
You don't see thousands and thousands of western hunters clamoring to apply for the chance to go hunt back east for whitetail deer.

Big difference between a reasonable allotment and Oregon's measly 5%, with up to 50% of those going to guides. If the hunting was worth a darn there would be some outrage but being a scrub state we pretty much slide under the radar.

I didn't draw a hunt that has had almost 50% left for 2nd choice. Time for a trip to the local office.

Oregon is stingy. I was notified that a hunt that I had applied for was unavailable because all tags went to guides. They shouldn't make it available if they're not going to have tags, it just cost me time and money with no chance to draw.

Many Alaska resident hunters are pushing hard to make no more than 10% of tags available to non-residents. Especially for Dall sheep, but also for the other species. Anyone can hunt almost anything every year up here, sheep included. (If you can afford to!).
What would you guys thing is a fair split; 90/10, 80/20, 50/50??

If you have not used this web site, take a look. They try to give an estimate of NR tags available and take the outfitters allocation into account. It is an estimate, but I have found them to be plenty accurate. https://sites.google.com/site/oregontags/home
