Sorry Man! I will do my best to share the experience. I was kind of liking the idea of the rifle hunt next year but here I go. At least I think I have talked myself in to a new bow.You drew my tag Joe congrats!! Keep us updated
We'll be spending all our time in the Cascades this year. My daughter drew her second choice deer and I will be hunting the general seasons deer and elk.We drew second choice for deer and elk. totally new place for elk. looking forward to learning a new place.
My kid can also buy the cascade bull tag OTC and we can hunt the week before we go east for my tag. looking like 20-30 days in the woods this year for me.
I'm always amazed at how many non-residents complain about the low nummber of tags available to them. I'm sure most western state hunters would not want to share their tags with non res hunters 50-50.ODFW white collar thieves with their 2 1/2% NR quota & outfitter welfare ripped me off again. I would have drawn 5 years ago without their bait-n-switch BS & $182 annual free money. Pathetic.
If you have not used this web site, take a look. They try to give an estimate of NR tags available and take the outfitters allocation into account. It is an estimate, but I have found them to be plenty accurate. https://sites.google.com/site/oregontags/homeOregon is stingy. I was notified that a hunt that I had applied for was unavailable because all tags went to guides. They shouldn't make it available if they're not going to have tags, it just cost me time and money with no chance to draw.
Many Alaska resident hunters are pushing hard to make no more than 10% of tags available to non-residents. Especially for Dall sheep, but also for the other species. Anyone can hunt almost anything every year up here, sheep included. (If you can afford to!).
What would you guys thing is a fair split; 90/10, 80/20, 50/50??
