After years of anticipation, I finally got my first antelope this past weekend. It's a long story that I'm saving for an upcoming blog article, but the super quick version is that it was spot and stalk and a 68 yard shot that entered his back between the shoulder blades and exited his chest.

Thanks to Drhorsepower for confirming scouting observations, and providing motivation during the whole process. From field judging, to habits, to the country they live in, these animals had me and confused and humbled while scouting the months before the season.

Anyway, here he is:

Nice job BigSurArcher. Can't wait to read the story...but 68 yards through the shoulder blades and out the chest sounds like it was steep? And by looking at the pictures I think I'm right. Congrats!

Thank you all!

And Matthoek21, he was going straight away from me on the other side of a very steep narrow draw, slightly uphill shot. Pretty much his whole back was exposed as if he were standing on his back legs facing away on flat ground. Pretty cool and effective angle to shoot one.

Congrats on a great buck! My first archery antelope was the same angle, just much closer. My arrow entered in the top of the back and out the chest... was a very fast kill. I believe it went 11 yards.
