I'll start by saying I've been blessed with an amazing elk season(s).:)

September archery season yielded my best bull to date. Fast Fwd to public land 2nd season Colorado and 4.5 days of HARD hunting (WAY too warm and lots of pressure). Hunted HARD and hardly saw sign of an elk, including a 14 mile day hike through canyons, draws, timber, creeks.....you name it. Then, on the morning of the last day this fella shows up with 2 of his buddies. Go figure?!?! Not a sign of elk for DAYS and then I have 3 in my scope at once! (2-5x5's and a nice 6x6) At that point in my hunt I was dropping whoever gave me the best opportunity. He fell in his tracks @ 300yds to the 7mm Rem Mag.

When people ask "Where do you find elk?"....I Always say...."Elk are where you find them." It's so true.

Blessed and thankful to have good friends to hunt with and for mother natures bounty.

That statement is awesome. I had a buddy ask me where I shot my bull this year and I told him the same thing. I explained to him I had heard it from Guy Eastman and it is the truest statement regarding elk hunting. You never know. Congrats on a nice bull.

That's the way to do it. Never give up. That's what my buddy and I did this year. Hot & dry and nobody was seeing elk. After 9 days of hard hunting we found a hidden spring and stream. Early in the morning we spotted a small group of bulls feeding among the junipers & sagebrush. I took the first bull that presented a shoulder, a heavy 5x5. I was the only one in camp to take a bull. My buddy had a cow tag, or he could have gotten one of the bulls. None of the other 4 guys got elk.
