I'm looking at purchasing one, and see they come in 2 finishes, Black ceracoat and and a more traditional stainless/satin. Anybody familiar with the two finishes? Any reason to prefer one over the other? What are the advantages and disadvantages of either?
Thanks.
Are the non-Merino base layers put out by Sitka (other companies make similar products too, I believe) essentially the same thing (function similarly, similar weight, more moisture management than insulation) as Under Armor? I'm looking at the Sitka Core line -- they've been on Camofire a lot...
I was just finishing up packing this weekend (leaving in about a week). Thought I'd throw in a fish pole & some tackle. For trout in the streams and reservoirs on the eastern side of the Bighorns, I was thinking light or ultralight poles and some smaller spinners -- would that be about right...
Anybody have any familiarity with Ranch brand truck caps? To the eye, they appear similar to Leer, but are a little cheaper. Is this a matter of you get what you pay for, or is it the fact that Leer advertises a lot more that pushes the price up? Haven't been able to find many reviews online.
Any Gearheads on here?
Been looking at used trucks, Silverados or Sierras mostly. Been debating between 3.42 and 3.73 rear ends. I understand better milage with the 3.42, better towing and torque with the 3.73. Leaning toward the 3.73, but there are a lot more of the others available. Then...
Anybody used GovX.com? It claims to be a retail - discount site for military personnel, veterans, and certain government workers. Is it legit? worthwhile?
Am I correct that on the leftover list that the permits listed under the cow/calf tab are the reduced price ones and the antlerless ones under the elk tab are the full price ones?
I run across a lot of threads that talk about the value of having tire chains, and I'm pricing some. I have always thought about lifting my Jeep. In terms of hunting out west, would that be of value? I assume the chains are primarily for sluicey roads. Are there clearance issues that a guy...
I'm trying to pick a couple back-up units for a Wyoming antelope application. Of course, most units that there's a reasonable chance of drawing as a second or third choice have limited public access. So, I am trying to identify accessible public land in such units using a Wyoming Gazetteer and...
Anyone have any experience with clothing from these companies? Any opinions on quality or value? I don't think either comes in tall sizes -- are they ok for taller people? Seems like there's been a lot from both on Camofire recently.
Preparing to put in my application and I was looking at a few second (and third) choice possiblities. Looks like they are few and far between. Top of my list are some of the general units (W, Y, E), but I noticed Area 22 is typically available. Is it that bad?? I know the state lists it as a...
A friend and I had planned on heading to Wyoming for antelope this fall. Unfortunately, my hunting partner got his wife pregnant, and she's due right in the middle of when we were planning on going, so he's not going and I'm scrambling for a plan B. I don't want to use my antelope points this...
Anyone have an opinion on these? They will be on camofire later today (says limited sizes available).
Info I can find on line says they are "lightly insulated" and "offer great value." As for insulation, how insulated are they? Maybe comparable to a Danner Pronghorn wtih 400 grams of...
I use a Hostage rest and hae my arrows fletched straight. Going to buy a new dozen this week and was thinking about switching to offset. Was wondering if any one had any experience / problems with this style of rest and either offset or helical fletching?
If you are buying a scope, and money is an object to a degree, and the intended use is hunting out to say 500 yards max (& probably way less more often than not) would you spend the extra money to get an adjustrable objective scope or use that same money to but a little bit higher quality scope...
What's a point (say .01) of Ballistic Coefficient worth? Say, for example, if one round has a BC of .430 and another has a BC of .390, what's that mean in terms of performance? How much of an advantage is .040 of BC?
Does anybody understand Savage's nomenclature? Can't really figure all of it out, even on their website. I was looking at these rifles:
•11/111 BTH
•11/111 FCNS
•11/111 FHNS
In the first one, I believe the TH means thumbhole, and in the last two, the S means synthetic stock. I think SS in...
Was at Costco the other day. Saw an Igloo brand 150 qt cooler for $90. Claimed to be a 7 day cooler -- I don't really believe that. But, I'll never spend $300 -$400 on a cooler (sorry Yeti), at least unless I absolutely have to. The question: How seriously do you take the number of day...
