Just got back from Durango and I was surprised how green everything was. It looks like spring expcept for all the rabbit brush in bloom and the aspens and oak brush turning color to remind me it is fall. Everything is green, meadows have new grass coming up and the hay farmers are getting...

My wife had some heart issues last Friday and I had to take her to the ER. Got her out Sunday with the strong admonition by the Doctors, "Get her to a Cardiologist as soon as possible"! After much calling and arm twisting got an appiontment in a week with some tests next Monday. My wife also...

I watched the CNN special about the twin towers disaster last night and it brought back memories I'd like to remember and forget too. I was watching the morning news drinking a cup of coffee when it happened. At first I thought it was an accident, but then as it developed, I knew it was...

My wife has arthritic hips and knees (all have been replaced and she is 84 now) and has trouble getting up and down the steps. We haven't used our trailer in over 2 years. I have decided to sell it and motel it now when we travel. It has always been stored indoors since we bought it new. 2011...

In my neck of the woods there are more fawns than I have seen in years. Lots of twins too. Yesterday I was going to the range for a work day and I'll bet I saw 50 fawns in the 10 miles I drove. I also saw a group of 5 bucks on Thursday evening and 4 of them are going to be really nice bucks.

Got an email that I drew my 1st choice in the secondary draw. Got an elk tag for 4th season. It's also an either sex tag.

Here at in the 4 Corners area of sw Colorado we have at least 3 lightning fires going. The wind has been blowing like hell the past 4 days and it is blowing again this morning. The fires in our area are in unit 71/711 and exploded last night to over 1000 acres. It is really dry. I have a place...

I read to that Trump is ordering the Dept of Interior consider allowing hunting in our National Parks and more hunting on Federal lands and more access to wilderness areas. Has anyone heard about this? I am for hunting in NP's that have an overpopulation of a species that has become a problem...

This year the Colorado draw results will be posted almost a week before the Wyoming application deadline (June 1) . That is a good thing (at least for me) because I'll know if I am successful here, then I won't apply for deer tags in Wyoming because it will have a conflict in the date I hunt in...

April 7 is rapidly approaching. Important date for your application for a big game hunting permit. Also probably deer in Wyoming. I am applying for Deer and Antelope and a point for Elk. What are you plans?

Great sunrise with my morning coffee today.

I read other forums and some of the stuff going on is just crazy (IMO). Lots of big game hunters are saying they are going to .22/.24 caliber for big game. They tout low recoil and new bullet design as the reason. I just don't get it. If recoil bothers them, what's wrong with a muzzle break, I...

Thank you to all my brother veterans (especially the ones here on Eastman's) who's service is the reason we celebrate our freedoms today. Their sacrifices are the reason we celebrate. TUN HUT! Salute................

Well the rut has started. I was on my way to our shooting club monthly meeting last evening and I saw at least 50 deer in my old orchard. The big difference was there was at least 10 bucks with the does. Sparing with each other and sniffing around looking for a doe in season. One pretty decent 4x4.

Colorado recently applied for a permit to stock some more wolves from Canada. Apparently there is a rule because they are "endangered" they can only come from certain states.....and none from Canada. CPW got a letter from the Federal Fish & Wildlife that they can't get any wolves except from...

Has anyone been follow the story about 2 Archery Elk hunters lost in Unit 81? It's been almost a week now.

Just got back from a lifelong friends place in California. He has terminal Parkinsons and can't drive. He wanted me to have his 49 Chevy streetrod....boy is it nice. Made me a smokin deal I couldn't refuse.

This morning I saw a mule deer doe at my place that had drooping ears. She appeared to be ok healthwise. Her coat was pretty good and she wasn't too skinny. The first thing I thought was CWD, but looking up the symptoms, drooping ears is not one of them. I look around and see if I can get a...

How many of you Colorado resident hunters have signed the new initiative? I have and collected around 100 signatures to get it on the ballot so we can start to fix this wolf debacle.

I took this antelope in 1990. I only had the Taxidermist put it on a wall plaque. He told me at the time, that is a pretty good one, you should mount it. I said I'm waiting until I get a "big" one. Years later, I took the wall plaque with me on a antelope hunt and took it in to him with one I...
