    Piebald Fawn

A buck or a doe can carry the gene, but to be passed on or have a piebald fawn, the only way is for both carriers (buck & doe) have to breed. If either one breed with one that does not carry the gene, it is not passed to the fawn. That's what the article I read said. The amount of varied...

"Stupid is as stupid does"! Hopefully one of their offspring can carry the gene and carry on.

    Piebald Fawn

I did a little research on this color phase and the info said that both parents have to carry the recessive gene for it to be passed on. So there must be a buck around someplace. We do have a doe that shows this coloration, but it is not very distinct. She has been around a long time.

    Piebald Fawn

There are about 75 to 100 mule deer that live around my place. Mostly hay fields and apple orchards. There is a gene pool of piebald color phase in the deer. Every few years one or 2 show up. Yesterday I saw a yearling that was a piebald. 3 years ago there was a beautiful fawn that was piebald...

    Uh Oh Drought...

What I was referring to was the San Juans down in the 4 Corners region. That's where I live and that's where I hunt, so I watch it closely. I also irrigate all summer with the water from the winter snow.

1954, I was 12 and able to hunt deer for the first time. Dad put me in for a doe tag in the Mts above Fresno, Ca. I shot this doe at about 100 yards in the neck with my sporterized 03 Springfield with military sights. Didn't have a scope yet. I think I was pretty lucky, altho I wouldn't admit it.

    Black Guns...or MSRs...

I don't have any of the AR style guns. Like AKaviator, everything I have is the traditional bolt actions, levers and a single shot. I do have a semi auto .22 rifle. Just never wanted an AR style gun. When they first started being sold on the market, I couldn't see any use for them except for...

In 1963/64 in basic training, I was issued an M14, loved it. Shot the highest qualification score in the whole training battalion with it.
