    Archery Elk Opportunity Hunt Suggestion...?

Utah's archery spike elk tags are either sex and are unlimited. There are also any bull units that are either sex. Most of the hunts are not too crowded after the opening or during the week. Colorado's herds are dropping in numbers this is why there are a number of them that are going to a...

    Archery Elk Opportunity Hunt Suggestion...?

Not setting your expectations very high are we? Colorado, Utah, Idaho, and Montana have OTC licenses available for elk. But going in blind into a state or a unit that you don't know is next to disaster when hunting for a "trophy", but then the word trophy is different in everyone's mind. As...

More Colorado archery OTC units to move to draw only

My problem with the ML hunt at the same time as archery is just the range of modern day muzzle loaders even with open sights. 200 yard shots are quite easy even with shooting conical bullets. I hate to think of a hunter shooting at a longer range with a archery hunter between him and his...

    Pronghorn Draw

That is what it is, a landowner tag but they will also have to hire the outfitter that is associated with the ranch from what I have seen.

You also have to look at a NR now having to purchase a license to apply for the tags or even preference points. This right here is enough to make a NR forget about it, that is unless they are already hunting here and have a valid license, then all it cost extra is the application fee. Also...

    Pronghorn Draw

However a NR can contact the operator of the ranch and find out who the outfitter is for the ranch and then hire the outfitter as a guide and tag for the hunt

I guess I could of also answered a couple of your questions. Colorado uses a preference point system. One system for each species. If the statistics page shows that you need 10 points to draw a tag you need at least 10 points to draw that tag. How many points do you have? The hunt code...

Go to the Colorado's CP&W Hunting Atlas and play around with it. It will show you the concentration of antelope, their migration patterns, winter areas and other things. https://ndismaps.nrel.colostate.edu/index.html?app=HuntingAtlas .

    12 elk points. which unit?

It's my understanding that the state can not put the money into a interest bearing account but must be held in a trust account. If it is earning interest then they have to send the interest to you along with a 1099-int form.

    Wolves in Colorado

Here is a little article about a possible pack of wolves up in the north west section of Colorado. https://www.vaildaily.com/news/colorado/forget-the-ballot-wolves-are-already-here-in-colorado/ Also a few years ago there was a single wolf that traveled quite a bit around western Colorado...

More Colorado archery OTC units to move to draw only

There are a number of units in Colorado where the elk population is dropping. It is bad enough in my home unit where the archery tags have gone from either sex to bull only and now to a draw.

    Wolves in Colorado

Even if this proposal doesn't pass this upcoming election odds are they will get it put onto the next and then the next and then the next one. It is a lot like how legalized MJ got passed, it failed on a number of ballots until they finally got enough votes for it to pass. I'm just glad...

Let the gov't goat slaughter begin!

I think that the problem with hunting in a NP is the perception that it is going to give those that don't hunt. The shooters that they usually hire to thin out the elk herd are very good shots and they work withing very tight perimeters when they are shooting them. I doubt that you could get...
