    What is Trophy Hunting?

My family is primarily meat hunters except for a window from October 25-November 25. Before and after is when we fill the freezer, but during that period is when we focus on trophy hunting. For us, a trophy is either our best animal, or at least better than the average for the area we hunt...

    Dog issue

My dogs are 3 1/2 and 5 years old. They are lab mixes, and live in the house. Everyone in our family works full time or has school. Without exception, one of us comes home at noon to feed them and let them out. When the weather is nice, I’ll take them to work with me if I’m not in town. If...

    Duck recipe needed

A great sauce for duck is just melt butter and honey together with some thinly sliced almonds. Add a dash of Cajun seasoning if you want some heat

    Why the animosity?

I don’t like when they’re transferable though. Landowner tags should be limited to immediate family members. Too easy to monetize hunting as it is

    Anyone Read Mike Eastman Books?

I have his high country mule deer book, and his list of high quality deer units prompted me to apply for a deer tag on a drop camp elk hunt. Got the tag and arrowed my 167” velvet buck

How many of you will get the Covid shot?

The only way I’d even consider it is if Canada ever requires it for me to go to my cabin. Otherwise, hell no. I believe in vaccines, but this one is not necessary for the health of the majority

    House Bill 295

Here in Minnesota, Bear are the only game animal we can bait. I’m not particularly fond of baiting, but it is the only way to manage bear numbers

    House Bill 295

Sounds like the first step to eliminate bear hunting. Give them an inch, they’ll take a mile

    Trail Cams

I’ve had pretty good luck with moultrie cams, given the price point. Occasionally have poor nighttime photos, but never had one fail

    Who taught you to hunt?

My dad gave me the fever for hunting in general. Then when I was 13, I somehow got the itch to bowhunt. Eventually, he also became strictly a bow hunter, and we’ve had a lot of amazing adventures together. Now I’m passing it down to my sons.

When Did You Kill Your First Elk?

That’s what hunting is all about. A kid’s first elk, a difficult recovery, and memories to last a lifetime

When Did You Kill Your First Elk?

I was 32, and it’s the only elk I’ve ever shot. It was in Wyoming, and with a bow. I’ve been on several bowhunts for elk, but it’s a hard way for a guy to notch a tag

Stoeger 3500 Info for Potential Buyers

I have 2 of the Stoeger 3” semiautomatic 12 gauges and the only complaint I have is the safety is very stiff. We don’t bird hunt a lot, but we chase late season honkers up until Christmas, and have never had a problem with cold, either firing or ejecting.

Warmest socks or boots for cold weather sits

I hunted Washington state a few years back in early December. It was an archery stand hunt, and air temperatures ranged from -10 - 10 above, with some wind. I sat for 11 hours a day for 5 days straight and survived only because I had cabelas predator extreme pac boots. They’re heavy, but it...
